During your first year with Stevens Transport, how many States did you drive through?

Stevens runs all 48 states plus Canada. (you don't have to run Canada if you don't want)
During your driving training, you will be required to run in all parts of the country...the NE, SE, Central, PNW and West.
Most of the west runs are into California, most of the northeast are NJ, NY, PA,CT,MA, but you'll pass thru most of them. Not so much ME, VT or NH. SE includes the rest of the eastern seaboard and the south. About the only states that we don't run often are ND, NH, VT.
    Our main freight lanes are I-90, I-80, I-70, I-40, I-30, I-20, I-10 and anything that crosses them.

not sure, but i think they also include Hunt's Point as a state as well. last time I was there I counted 35 plus Steven's trucks.

The requirement is for the student to drive in the NE and bump a dock. Can be one of several states. While NYC isn't required (I think it should be), I always requested a load to NYC with each of my students so they could see first hand it isn't the toilet of crime, corruption and crazies that so many make it out to be. Stevens runs a lot of freight into NYC, not just Hunts Point.

Do they speak English there? I heard Hunts Point has their own language.

don't let them talk you into a lease purchase of one of their worn out trucks,,a friend did it a couple of years ago and in 9 months almost all of his money after fuel and payment went into truck repairs,,

And for hunts point,,yes they do have a special language,,Horns Blowing all night and nasty people,,Oh they also have 6 NYC cops wring tickets for idling,,too dangerous to go after criminals,..

I delivered in 47 states while with Stevens... the one I missed, North Dakota.

Hunts point meat market, is an easy delivery, and yes one needs to learn their dialect... I would take hunts point, and NYC over northern NJ any day.

I did the lease, it is NOT a purchase, and I made more more than most company drivers... but I also will tell anyone new to trucking to spend the first year learning what the routes are, and what it takes to run your own business profitably... It is not just drive down the road and make pickup and deliveries..

I was asking because I'm re-evaluating which company I go to. I was going with Cargo Transporters, but then I got a call from Melton Truck Lines, Con-Way truckload, Stevens Transport, Cypress Truck Lines, and also considering Roehl Transport. All of them seem like really good companies to start with. Oh and U.S. Xpress just announced a pay raise and for veterans they hire at the 2 year experience mark. Swift has 'offered' a dedicated Dollar Tree account which sounds good.

I noticed Stevens Transport offers $1,749/month for the G.I. Bill but they start out at $.26cpm, that's the lowest I've seen. I like the idea of the long hauls that Stevens has and apparently after 3 weeks out you get to come home for 4-6 days, that's not too bad.
