Apparently they are not bluffing with their rules, especially when it comes to not backing up to/pulling away from a dock with a red light. Witnessed a driver today give a $500 donation for not following the rules. As I was pulling up to the security gate, I got waved around the truck in front of me. The driver, guard shack personell, security, and someone from management were having words.
Although the rules may seem stupid, remember when you are at a shipper/receiver you are on their turf. This place has a specific route they want you to take around their yard as well. When they say speed limit 15, they mean it.
On a side note, I have never seen Winco or even walmart for that matter enforce the no idling rule. Pretty much nobody obeys that one.
Behave yourself at WINCO FOODS, PHOENIX.

He actually paid the $500? I think I might go berserk if someone tried to do that to me. I can see myself quitting my job or driving through the gate or getting arrested. That's crazy.

This is the way it always been. (All shippers/receivers in general)
There are a handful drivers that have problems with procedure, they think safety rules are for the fun of being broke.
That handful push shippers/receivers to impose rules and fines such as these, jeez why not screw it all up for the rest of us huh?
Too lazy to pick up the toilet seat? Next time you come in to sit on it will be covered by the last guy that thought just like you (to that azwhole driver/super trucker) -
I bet Winco stopped cleaning it for the exact reasons you mentioned.Last edited: Aug 18, 2014
hunted Thanks this. -
They actually had no way to force the driver to pay that fine. They are not the police or government. The absolute most they can do is tell you to leave.

The rules are simple. Your company or broker has to be aware of. They will get the fine off your load anyway.
Why would you have to be a moron and piss off the company loading/unloading your truck? Dont you like your truck keeping busy?
Common sense -

$500 is a lot and they should just ban the driver from that facility. If a shipper/receiver ever tried to charge me any kind of punishment fee I would refuse and if empty exit the premises. If the customer would not let me leave I would call the police for false arrest since I would be involuntary detained.
I hate fees at shippers and receivers. I remember this Americold warehouse in Oregon I used to goto. They had a sign that said if you are one minute late checking in there was a $50 fee. They would easily take 4-8 hours to load me after my appointment time and refuse to pay detention. Talk about hypocrites!hunted Thanks this. -
Simple solution, do not pull away on red. It a safety rule, so if you pull away on red you deserve the 500.00 fine. It could be ur own life your putting in Danger
