Get a CDL manual from your state DMV. Read it completely while highlighting key points such as following distances, air brake leakage, emergency reflector replacement, key terms and so forth. Then take these practice tests and refer to the manual if you need to find the answer. Wash, rinse and dry until you are confident you can pass the test. The key is to comprehend the questions on the test. The questions on the DMV test may be worded differently in order to trip you up so comprehension is key. I took general knowledge, air brakes and combination tests back to back in 30 minutes. I missed a few of those trick questions but I passed anyway.

Re-read the manual and took the practice tests again and aced them all. I paid close attention to some of the material I saw on the actual test but may have not paid close attention too when reading the manual before. I am not ####y by any means but feel I have a better grasp of the material now not just the practice tests. Going through this manual again over the weekend to be sure this time. thanks again for all your help and suggestions and I will update you on Weds with hopefully good news!

Update.. Good news finally I passed the general and combo test and missed the air brake by two questions. I'll get it next week I'm just happy I got the main one and the combo !!

If you can handle it foodservice might be your thing to start. Some pay very good and train you with no experience. But those jobs are backbreakers and not for everyone. Companies like Sysco, Sygma, GFS, US Foods, etc
road_runner Thanks this. -
Most ltl will train you as well. Easier than foodservice

Good thing about food though you will learn to manuver through tight spots
