I think, from a purely job resume standing, it probably looks good. Whether you utilize it or not, it definately will make you stand out in the eyes of a perspective employer over those who do not have it. And, anything you can do to make yourself more marketable is a good thing.
Alaska76, Tonythetruckerdude and okiedokie Thank this. -
you and another dude are standing side by side.......
dispatcher sez, "either youze two got a hazmat endorsement?".
dude next to you raises his hand.
He gets the load, you get to sit down.
same goes for doubs /trips.......
cool job opens up but you gotta have doubs / trips.....
neighbor next door has 'em, you don't.
Guess who gets the job?
Always show up to a gun fight with as many bullets as you can tote.
good luckAwol, Alaska76, Tonythetruckerdude and 2 others Thank this. -
Some of the best work is in LTL companies so I'd say those endorsements are well worth it. Any endorsements will open more opportunities for you, especially a tanker/Hazmat.
HalpinUout, Puppage and Boy Howdey Thank this. -
I make $.50 more per hour with 8 yrs less exp. because of it, than my older, more exp. coworker because he doesn't have it

At least get the doubles/triples and tank endorsements. Even a braindead chimp could pass those exams they are so easy, and they should be included in the cost of your permit anyways. If you go back later after getting your license you'll have to pay extra to get those endorsements. Just do it right away and get it over with, why not?
In regards to hazmat, I'd say get it, but there is additional cost for fingerprinting and security checks. You can always get that later if you wanted to, if you hire onto a carrier they might even pay for that themselves for you to get the hazmat so you don't have to pay out of your own pocket. Then again there's no guarantee that they will do that. -
I'm perusing the job market right now, and literally every single company with open positions wants doubles and hazmat/tanker.

I figure you need tanker even if not for hazmat , there are plenty of products that require tank endorsement that ain't hazard like milk ,water , ect makes you more versatile , so yes it adds to your earning potential , haz is more operator preference , in my estimation , ?
dennisroc Thanks this. -
I have all my endorsement but schneider doesn't need to know that or that I have a twic card. Based on my newb runs it's gonna take some time to make them feel like I'm capable of bigger. Oh i81 sucks through Pennsylvania.

Those endorsements are money in the bank; you should be using them. You're making thousands of dollars less per year right now because you're not using endorsements.
Alaska76 Thanks this.
