Being a professional truck driver = safety and in control of your surroundings. You need more math skills than a BA in english! I have very little experience in a truck but I do understand that everyone else on the road is in a hurry or distracted. Next time you are in your car (or truck) just observe. Really look at our fellow human beings. Does everyone need to trip plan their commute an hour early to not be in such a #### hurry?? Why the heck does everyone need to be somewhere so fast??

You have to be in control always. Need to think slow and steady!!! What happens when you get into a situation when everyone around you is beeping their horn and cursing at you because you are holding up their commute? Are you gonna freak out and cause an accident? Better yet just relax and smile put on your 4 ways and say "Maam, I am gonna need you to pull over a little so I can get around you." Thank them and have a truckin good day!

Paschall Truck Lines in Murray, KY will probably hire you when you complete the CDL school.
They may pre-hire you right now if you do the online application.
They cut a lot of slack with drivers that have some problems in their past.
It's a pretty good dry van company and trucks have APU's.

My degrees have done stuff for me but I do really like the open road. I guess I should see if I love it.

Many new drivers wouldn't even bother to research and find this thread. His passion isn't what is in question here. You hardly know his intention to judge. I know plenty of B.A.'s without a clue....it's the American way!

Amen. Although I think Walter jacobo15 was trying to tell me to take control and find my true passion. I want to ultimately write books and I do in my spare time. I thought my true passion was to work with my degrees and help kids learn English, read and write. What I realized to this point is that kids, parents, and even school employees don't care but I do. What I realized though is that I really need to look out for my pockets and teaching isn't my first passion. I have been on the road with my cousin a long time ago when he drove for cr england. I liked it. I am trying to get some more money too and look out for my finances in the future. These loans are a killer even with a salary job. I want the open road and I guess I just need to follow through and time will tell if I love it. I don't anyone who gets on the open road, teaches l, or does anything without getting paid so money is always a motivating factor. I just need to work my way up to maybe owning a truck one day I guess or whatever the trucking future holds.

Wow... What ever happened to "no pain, no gain? Or "just do it"? Or "Work hard, play hard"? Or "Kill it and Drag it Home"? That's the American Way I know...

You see how it was a matter of passion?

I'm glad you noticed I was bashing your behavior and not your record or your B.A's. You have a couple of companies willing to train you. That's all you need!! If trucking is your passion, let your self know that it is. Quit asking if you should and just get it done!
