How do companies put together teams?

    Good Evening everyone;

    Since I want to maximize my paycheck, it seems that being part of a team is the way to go. My concern is compatibility with my team mate. My taste in music is for quiet easy listening, not hard rock. When I am working, I really don't like to talk too much.
    I'm not into sports, though I enjoy fishing. I don't smoke and I am not interested in womanizing or talking about conquests.

    I know I am making myself sound like a real odd ball, but I'm getting all the bad out first. I strongly believe in taking care of your Shipmates (former Navy - Seabees) and I think I would be a great partner for someone else. I just want to avoid problems caused by a mis-match.

    So the real question is how are teams put together? I will not be coming in with anyone so I will have to find one on my own.

    Any advise, suggestions or stories would be appreciated.

    You shouldn't team. You will be miserable. You can make just as much money running solo or even more. Get all the endorsements and run solo.

    I know what I'm talking about. You and I have much in common, including former Navy. From reading your post, the only things we differ on are fishing and womanizing.

    Get all the endorsements and put them to work for you as a solo driver.

    I've seen some of the megas offer to match you with a team mate but I can't imagine jumping on board a truck with a perfect stranger. Maybe in my youth but I'm too old to ever consider it unless it was a good friend or my wife.

    Teaming is a miserable life. Going in with a spouse or friend you know....maybe. But living in a constantly moving truck with a total stranger would reduce your quality of life to nill. There is plenty of good solo freight out there that will keep you busy and off docks.

    As for how the companies pair up teams, a ten or fifteen question survey about personal preferences and that's about it.

    They put your name and the names of everyone else looking for a codriver into a huge hat and pull names out randomly and that's who you get.

    In a way I am joking but some of the mega's pretty much do it like that.

    I wouldn't even do it with a good friend....I've done it once and it lasted less than a month before we decided it wasn't a good idea. That was with us both being experienced, I can't imagine doing it new.

    On a pure theoretical level I could actually see being new a lot easier since you wouldn't be so set on your own ways and still developting your rhythm as a driving so you could build it so fix the team driving style a lot easier. Plus you and a partner could split the costs (One person buys one thing. Another buys something else.) of the first items needed for a truck so make the initial costs of outfitting the truck easier.
