Paccar is expensive in your place ................here it is affortable.
Whereas Volvo and Scania are now charging prices that border on the outrageous.

Daf are as expensive as Scania here, a Volvo 480 is almost 30,000 cheaper than an r500 Scania. If I'm buying a truck in the morning I'd buy Volvo

    here mercedes is most expensive,

volvo gives you crazy low prices , especially when it comes to trucks with more axles or something different than just standard tractor , and with old fh prices were very good, you could get fully equipped fh500 for 82000€

recently one guy was looking to buy euro6 100t 6x4 tractor highest cab and hub reduction axles... he was looking for 2651, r520 and fh540 , and he chose volvo because it was 15000€ cheaper

scania man and daf, cost about same

i dont count renault and iveco as trucks

Renault & Iveco both need a little tweaks with fuel pump to force it into mech. Mode, and they become as good as other truck with nearly 1/2 the price . Personally, I think MAN gives best value

i dont think that for man, man is cheap to repair but not as nearly good in quality as other trucks, man quality really drops in recent years . but still here people buy it and it is most popular , and it will be always, it is something people buy and if it become even worst they would still buy it they are easy to sell.....

as for iveco, they cost to repair 3x more than normal trucks , they go pretty good but in this way heavy on fuel

as for renault. people dont like them , maybe they are not so bad if you dont live here, here renault sells less than 10trucks per year and it is impossible to sell them , they lose value, even renault dealer did not want to buy them used , now renault is integrated in volvo so volvo would make this all little bit more serious

but there are many strange things on renault, from little things to large

for example air drier bottle dont fit from other trucks , it have left screw it is pretty expensive( 70€) instead of standard ones for normal trucks ~15€
,they got problems with air drier is 2500€

body parts are very expensive ,

I drove a brand new Renault, still have quality and some serious wiring issues, cab switch gear breaks, wiring loom also broke in my truck. Iveco are terrible quality, they literally fall to bits on our roads, even with a 5 year warranty they can't sell them here. Cab interiors are made with cheap nasty plastics that squeak and rattle.

Man of recent years are rubbish but a nice truck to drive.

mercedes quality went downhill lately, time will tell with the new models

daf although a very old design has a good build quality but have weak drivetrains, ZF gearboxes are troublesome and engines just don't last, they do however sell huge amounts of them into large fleets, backup service for small hauliers is nonexistent, as a result I don't know a single owner driver running one. I'm currently driving one with 260,000kms on the clock, it's burning oil to beat the band. I was in daf in cork recently getting my gearbox fixed, I counted 17 dafs all scrapped because of engine failures , 2 of them were 2006 but all the rest were 2007 - 2010, all mx engines....so long life they're not!

volvo have excellent build quality, they are very reliable, cheap to run and cheap to buy, backup service is just about the best in the business, if you are running general freight you'd be a fool not to consider one.

Scania 6cyl egr engines are no better than anybody else's, so they are not worth the extra premium over the likes of Volvo , they were designed cheaper to be cheaper, the v8 is as good as engines get, think old cat quality and reliability with a lot more punch and fuel efficiency, if you're doin heavy work it's the truck to have but they come with a hefty price tag, plenty of 20 yr old models still working hard here every day. The manual gearbox is the best in the business, very strong and literally unbreakable

....so that's it, if you're sensible and you're buying a new truck you'd have to buy Volvo , if you want to treat yourself and you're doing heavy work and you want it to last a lifetime it has to be Scania v8

I only have 2 Volvo's and would only buy them if they were priced right.
I usually buy my trucks on auction used with up to 250 000km and the DAF's were way cheaper then Volvo.
If buying new I would also buy Volvo , they hold together well on the rough roads we often travel.
The DAF trucks require a lot of maintenance on cab suspension and wiring.
We still use euro3 so the engines are not bad except for oil coolers failing.
The ZF Astronic gives about 400 000km between internal problems and was hugely expensive. Even the old Volvo geartronic gave better life and the I-shift is streets ahead.
