yeah, those are 2 different tests. Just like you described. The testing of the "fit" of the respirator, so it doesn't leak bad stuff into your lungs. The physical assessment is to kill ya' in the Doctor's Office before you're an Official Employee........ so ya' can't sue if ya' die out workin' in the field somewhere. :biggrin_25523:

I did mine in Odessa. It was pretty basic stuff, nothing too physical. They a actually had an old cab over in the room and we had to climb in and out of it five times, or something like that. They didn't have the school in San Angelo when I started so I can't help with that.

So an update on the interview today. Things went really well. He said we both interviewed well and is a really nice guy. Starting pay is $18 (with driving experience) and will go up to $20 once the 90 day probation period is over. I feel that is a good starting point with no oilfield experience or tanker experience. Very big on safety as others have mentioned and I don't have a problem with that. He asked if we would have a problem if he hired one of us and not the other. We each told him that in a perfect world we would both be able to work at the same company, but if that was not the case, then we were ok with that and one of us would find a job at another company. We explained that him only hiring one of us was not a deal breaker. (We were interview separately.) He said he would give us a call tomorrow to let us know one way or another. We also were up front about our upcoming vacation that was already planned and he said that was fine and they could work around that. He asked how soon we could start, if he offered a position, and we told him two weeks. I will not leave a job without giving a two week notice. He also told us that we would be in San Angelo for four days and then back to Big Lake for on the job training. Most of the guys are working 14-15 hours a day and are on a 4/2 (with the option of working one day off) or 5/2 schedule.

Not much around there that is open for an RV. We drove over to Rankin and they have plenty of spots open. Looks like if we are offered a job we would have to stay in Rankin for a bit until an RV spot comes open in Big Lake. They may have more RV parks in Big Lake but we could only find two.

That is where we stand right now. Hopefully tomorrow will bring good news!

When they send you to San Angelo for 2 weeks take your Rv and stay st the state park. They will pay and you get to sleep in your own bed.. and its a great place. Very peaceful

To be fair that's like being the smartest kid with down syndrome... it really doesn't say much considering there aren't any truly "nice" oilfield areas.

Got an email this morning with an offer of employment for me. My husband hasn't received anything yet, so we will wait and see what happens with him. Since it was an email notification, I am hoping they are processing the applications one at a time and he will get his here in a little while. Keeping my fingers crossed!
