a lot depends on the owners and management and drivers as to how the trucks look
in 04 i transferred from my old company--to one they just aquired that was going under--only because they had a rash of unfortunate happenenings all at the same time
when i started--approx 100 trucks---less than 5% driver turn over--you couldnt get a job driving thee--many long term drivers--trucks were all top of the line--one company show truck and trailer--it was daily driven--and the rest of the trucks were immaculat---shop-office all top of the line--you didnt want for anything--fast forward 5 years with the new owners--over 300% driver turn over-maybe 50 trucks-- looking beat up cause nobody would wash them---maintenance was always good tho--just everything looked like crap cause none of the new drivers cared--and all the old ones had finally quit--or more or less forced to quit--its a shame when you see a 10 yr compqany driver, cleaning out the truck--the one he got to spec exactely how he wanted (a bonus with previous owners for long termers)--and you see this driver in tears cause of how the place has changed and how everybody is being treated
and then the company closed up went under and the way it was done was just pitiful-no respect for any of the drivers(especially since the parent company was still bringing in drivers from the philipinebut according to them there isnt enough freight in the gta or eastern us to warrent domiciling drivers there
ok sorry i was ramblingFreightSheikh Thanks this. -
Depends what you like and what you want to pull. Flats TMC has nice stuff, tanks A&R looks nice there is just to many variables to answer that. Could you be more specific?

Canuck sad to see things happen like that , 1 in my area went the same way , owner turned it over to his SPOILED kids , milked it for the $ , company folded.

thats kinda what happened there as well--it was an--& son company
they are back again--not as large and under about 3 different names--but still nice people-- the little bit of dealings i had with them were always good -
I drive a 62 mph truck. And I don't like it. Last trucking company I worked for, I had 65 mph, then 70 mph awhile, then down to 62. And when i had the same truck running 70 and then cut to 62 my mileage got worse. And I know many other drivers in the same situation who got worse mileage after getting turned down. I don't know where they think they get better mileage, because in my experience they don't. Especially not pulling wind dragging flatbed loads. And I hope i get creamed in the tail end by one of the largecars in a 75 mph state, I am gonna ask how safe that was. Time to buy my own truck. Then I can run it how I want, for better or worse.

The way I see it is companies ostensibly claim they turn the trucks down to 63 mph for safety reasons. As though 63 is so much safer than 65. The real reason trucking companies turn down their trucks is to save money. Every quarter trucking company executives have meetings to discuss various trucking related issues. One of the topics is how can we increase our bottom line without compromising the integrity of our service. Invariably the answer is always "turn the trucks down" by turning a fleet of trucks down from 70 mph to 63 mph is an annual savings of about 1.5 million. But the trucks keep getting slower and slower and the appointment times keep getting tighter and tighter leaving no margin for error. Drivers in 63 mph trucks must sit in the seat and drive without stopping. Stopping to use the bathroom and buy a soda risks compromising on time delivery. That's just ridiculous. And why is 63 mph the Holy grail of speeds? If trucking companies were really concerned about safety then turn the trucks down to 57 mph.
