you have good post there and some good points. but one thing you are forgetting we are not europeans. we don't want to be like them. we prefer our large cars. i drive a W900L with all the bells and whistles. and i drive what ever the speed limit is 0-80 mph. i like my big trk with the chrome and lights. you will never see me driving a freightliner it is a cheap fleet trk. i don't have vibrations and other problems you speak of in your freightshaker. what is wrong with a non syncro trans?. my 18 speed works flawless with original clutch with almost a million mi and 2 clutch adj in that time. i have extra insulation and don't roast or freeze in my trk. sounds like you bought a cheap bare bones fleet trk?. this is the land of choices you don't have the government micro managing every aspect of how we order our trucks for the most part. you can build just about any truck combination you want. if you want a trk from across the pond and it's so great go drive over there. we like our freedom of choice. you might not like it but the vast majority of us like it the way it is. have a nice day

Columbia is the real shaker. But volvo runs smooth US and EU models.

I used to drive argosy. It is shaker too!

I'm amazed. I learned Mexicans make peterbilts now. No I mean Mexicans in Mexico. Wonder what paccar is using that huge building for in Denton now. I'm also shocked to learn macungie, pa. Is now part of Mexico. I bet those guys on the production line of Mack trucks don't know that either

really new KW, all Volvos, Mack run smoothly like EU trucks.

All manual transmissions dissapeare. Best EU transmissions like MB EPS (sold as DT 12 ore DT16), Volvo I-shift (used also on Mack and Renault), ZF AsTronic are available on US trucks.

First of all there is no US truck I've driven that comes near euro build quality, same for fuel efficiency or dare I say it reliability although there is plenty of rubbish in Europe too, Europe is also suffering reliability issues with egr engines although they are moving away from that technology now

ride comfort is far superior in most euro trucks because the cabs aren't bolted to the chassis on two points although kenworth and Pete's have a pretty good ride just not as insulated from jarring or vibrations as euro trucks,

There is no euro truck produced so cheaply that they skimp on cab insulation

Eaton gearboxes are a good gearbox but they are totally outclassed by euro synchros which are stronger, easier to use, safer (u can't miss a gear going down a mountain)

Clutches are air assisted so much lighter and no pains in the legs in heavy traffic

Euro cabs are way stronger most are built to Swedish standards. 15 static tonnes per pillar

Retarders; the must have safety device, like a jake only way better and because it's far more powerful and it pulls from the back of the gearbox so you don't lose braking while changing gears

Brakes: they are not just because they are discs it's because they also have EBS
Watch this all the way through , it's in German but they show a euro truck loaded to 88,000lbs out braking a car on a wet road

So.... The only reason you wouldn't want a euro truck is because of they way they look and because you've never driven one

I agree with Jason# ..but not when it comes to safety...windshield is the only barrier between EU trucks and an accident, and seen many set on fire so easily....

i think the difference is more like yellow school bus v. tourist's couch
