No, this isn't what Muleskinner is saying...he is saying (I presume) that there are idiot drivers in underpowered trucks who see a hill in front of them, speed up and pass us just before the hill. Then when they have been barely able to pass us, we hit the hill and they immediately drop three gears and cause us (who have adequately powered trucks for our weight & road conditions) to get stuck behind them when we could have cruised up the hill by dropping just a gear. I've driven underpowered trucks (thank God, no more) and common courtesy would be to give O/O with adequate power the lead going up a grade. I also noticed that Muleskinner putting a winking emoticon :biggrin_25525:after he wrote about "suspending their CDL for first infractions". I think this is what is referred to as sarcastic humor...but I am not sure. Sarcastic humor would never be described as gentle or endearing, but rather as caustic and bitter, describing situations, persons, or things in a derogatory way in order to be funny. Appropriately, the derivations for this brutal form of wit come from the Latin 'sarcasmus," which stems from the Greek "sarkasmos" and "sarkazein" which means literally "to bite the lips in rage."

Personally, I would just make them wear a shock-collar after their first infraction...and any truck with 500 hp or more would have a transmitter which allowed them to introduce said idiot trucker to Mr. Sparky when he next pulled that crap on a hill . With each recurrence of the infraction, voltage would be increased :biggrin_25525:. As Scarface said "I'm kidding...I was only kidding!"

Neal called it right on the money on all counts(earned rep points in the process I might add).

It's just if you're in a weak azzed truck, at least have the class to not block both lanes by trying to pass another slug while going uphill. No big deal, just stay out of the way.You couldn't make me madder if you kicked my dog when a driver in a wimpmobile goes to pass another one ,both running opened up at 35mph,when I'm running 65mph and you shut me down too.It will get you a drive by ### whoopin' on the radio if nothing else and I have actually seen it escalate into a fist fight beside the road one time in TN.Just have some respect for others who are just trying to move on down the avenue like you are trying to do is all I ask.

My husband drives a big rig, and I ride with him alot.

    1. When getting on a road yeild the right of way.

    2. Unless it is an emergency stay off the cell phone, this is for everyone.

    3. Stay off the computer also.

    4. Don't pass except when the truck is going at least 10 miles an hour below the speed limit.

    5. When you do pass, before coming back over in front of the big rig or even a 4 wheeler make sure you can see the entire front of the vehicle you passed.

    6. Don't ride in the fast lane and cut us off because you almost missed your exit.

    7. If you can't get by a big rig within 10 seconds stay behind, don't ride beside it for long lengths of time

    8. Dim your lights, we have way too much weight behind us not to see.

    9. Don't put on makeup, read a book or get dressed going down the road.

    10. Don't hit your brakes going up a hill, besides the fact it is stupid, trucks have a hard enough time getting up hills if they are heavy.

    Hi.

I haven't had a chance to read all the responses but I thank you all for your help. I really do appreciate it.

If I have any questions I'll let you know!

Hopefully, this speech will give people something to talk about and who knows? Maybe some people will change their behaviors.

    It's worth a try.

    Once again, thanks.

    Take Care,

    ~Dawn

tape it and youtube it. If only one person watches, understands, and changes the way they act, it will have been worth it.

Hope this one was not already mentioned, just adding my 2 cents worth: one of my biggest pet peeves about 4 wheelers is when my blinky is on they think it means hurry up and pass:biggrin_2552:, do they not know what that blinky means or is it just "not in front of me you don't" attitude 'cause when I have a huge hole to move into the next lane and begin to come over (blinky on) next thing I know these 4 wheelers are piled in my spot:biggrin_25512:, and I cannot move over :biggrin_25516:.

    Bluegrass, there's your problem!

You are using the cute teddy bear blinky.

You SHOULD be using the 'I'm a lady driver, don't mess with me' blinky.

Or, better the "I just caught my husband with his secretary" blinky.

Nobody ever pays attention to the cute teddy bear blinky, these days.

(I was gonna suggest 'Founding member of the NRA" Blinky - but don't know your stance on shooting stupid people )

    Smile! Show them fangs!

    On my number 5 response

It should have said for 4wheelers to be able to see the entire front of the vehicle in your rear view mirror.

But I forgot my biggest peeve.

When you come to a sign that tells you a lane is closed. Get into the lane that is open, don't wait until the last minute or try to be the first in line, because that is what causes the backup.

I know what you're sayin'. I hate to see those orange signs coming up. It is never good news.

There are two lines of thought on this matter. The usual argument is to get into the open lane as soon as possible and stay there until you complete the drive through the construction area. Logical.

The other side of this coin is the lane that is going to close is NOT closed until the signage indicates it is officially closed. In other words, if the signage says, "RIGHT LANE CLOSED AHEAD", that's what it means. It is not closed yet and may be utilized until the sign is reached that says, "RIGHT LANE CLOSED".

So, I find no fault with folks who ride the lane that is gonna' close. I do get irate with the line jumpers who will ride in an "officially" closed lane right up to the cones or barrels.

I will give you enough room to get in line if you are trying to do the right thing. If you're going for the front of the line don't count on me to be courteous. I'll run you into the barrels if you end up next to me when you run out of road.

And, Mr truck driver, stop trying to be in charge of traffic control. Lining up, two by two, is really not helping the situation. There is still eleventeen hundred vehicles thats gotta' get through the eye of the needle before we get there. You are only slowing the proccess, and pizzing everyone off to boot.
