Looking at this Hornady Transportastion company for flatbed driving in AL. I need some input on them. They say they are a small family company and will have you home most weekends. If you have driven for them, please share your thoughts. Before I make the wrong decision. Thanks

Im starting with them on Monday (18th) from what i can find out they are a go company i wanted to go with a SouthEast co because i live here in ALABAMA and wanted to get home on the weekends.Starting pay for me is .39 and a .01 for every mile you run per QTR and .01 for every loaded mile you run per QTR for tarping pay. They have a website and if you call them talk to Aline she is a very nice lady.

Thanks for your input. But let me ask you, What makes you think they are a good company? Don't take this wrong when I asked that question. I was approved for there hiring too. I just can't get past the tarp pay. If you do the math, its chump change. Think about it. They are holding money back from you thru out the qtr for something you have done already. Plus, if you drive 3000 miles a week and have to tarp two or three times during that week. Your only getting paid $30 once for all two or three times.
They don't gurantee home time either. Last word I got from them, They didn't have any dedicated or regional openings.
Keep me informed about how they are. I still have not gave them my answer yet.

They will clear you for orientation per your dac but not for background check. That happens during orientation. I was just there a couple of weeks ago. The drivers are averaging about 2-2200 miles a week. I saw five people walk out of orientation just because of the miles. The recruiters will tell you 25-3000 week. Hope that helps ya...

Are you still driving for them? Do they seem to be a good company, to work for? Do they get you home on the weekends like they say they will? Also on the background check. what kind of background check do they do? I thought they did this before you come to orientation. your reply would be grateful. And thks for your first reply.

No, I don't drive for them. They wanted a doc's report from my personal physician on a surgery I had a long time ago. There doctor signed off on my physical but this is something Hornady wanted at my expense. I say BS, If they want this report, they should pay for it.
Personally, I won't work for them. From what I seen of there equipment. Then the little lies were coming out at orientation. I was not impressed at all. I was only there for day one. So I didn't get to see the company as a whole.
They have a two region plan. If you look at there website you will see it. They don't have any openings for region I. So your stuck on region II and your out 10-14 days. From what the guys at orientation were saying. Its more like14 days before they get you home.
As far as the background check. I can't answer that cause I don't know. Keep in mind my ideal of a company maybe different then your idea of a company. I just seen to many inconsistencies after I got there. I think it was probably a blessing in my favor. I got a local job now and relaxed environment. I can walk in the office and they know me by my name. The pay could be a little better but wth you can't have everything. at least I'm home every night. :biggrin_2558:
