There are several companies that will hire you; shouldn't have any problem finding work.
You can ask for pre-hire letters also. Western Express, as someone posted above, may hire you. Fill out the online application then follow up with a phone call. Navajo Express looks at criminal record on a case by case basis. It's been 10 yrs. so should have several options as to companies.

I know someone relatively close to where you live who will probably hire you but i am morally opposed to you tasting freedom so i cant, in good conscience, provide you with the contact information.

just start browsing craigslist transportation jobs, there are plenty of people who would hire you. Small companies with 2-3 trucks. Companies owned by immigrant guys will hire you as long as you did not do a rape and then killed that person. Just a mentality thing

Yea, god forbid a convicted felon would be concerned about a Hair folicle test, Really? Sounds like he will fit right in with the way this industry is being ruined. How many folks out here started driving in the 70's. anyone remember the 10 commandments of trucking?
One of them was "thou shall not Murder by Motor"
Look at how many idiots out here are slamming into stopped school buses, traffic stopped in work zones and the back of other semi's. Yea
go ahead and hire him . Never thought the death of another Human was only worth 10 years confinement. Paroled for good behavior?
Arent you supposed to behave good in Prison? oh well i'm done with this one, no need to quote me

I worked with a guy who was classified a violent felon in prison. He had several driving jobs, many obtained by starting with a temp agency.

    Good luck with whatever happens!

Not all carriers hire drivers with a felony conviction. Some will hire those with convictions that are 7-10 years old. Each carrier makes their own policies with criminal records. If you have been free of any other criminal history since your conviction, then that would be a plus. The accident is old enough that it should not be a problem for most carriers. Most companies only check the last 3 years of your MVR. I see the parole and having to check in being more of an issue than the felony itself. However, only being required to check in every 90 days should be easier for most carriers to deal with than something weekly. Your parole officer might be able to help you find a driving job. I know California had a program a few years ago that helped felons find driving jobs. There might be similar programs in other states. You could check companies on this and other trucking forums for lists of carriers and their minimum hiring requirements. Some list the carriers policy on felony convictions. www.classadrivers.com has a company listing with the carriers felony policy. I have not checked this forum to see if there is a comparable listing. You may also check with your local state employment office. There could be a program that would help you find a position with a company that will work with your parole requirements and the felony conviction. Some carriers could have concerns about making sure you get home for your parole reporting. They won't want to take a chance on your missing an appointment and having a warrant issued on you that would leave their equipment tied up somewhere. It may not be easy, but I would think you could find a carrier that would give you a chance. Prepare for some legwork. I would definitely make sure you can find a job before committing to pay for CDL school.
