I hear ya bro, we all need to get away from time to time. My only point was it definitely hurts the bottom line for the month.

I too have a preplanned 2 week vacation in a few months. I've decided I'm going to work as a company driver till Spring and get past all the holidays, slow months and my vacation before I start a lease.

I agree I'm always buying something to make being in the truck a better experience right after I say I'm not spending any more money. I think once I get a electric skillet a crock pot and tv antennae I'll be done spending money. Just gotta hope the truck doesn't cost me money

Working through til April was my plan but I feel like the winds blew me to start in August. Remember I started a application with no intent to finish and Kim still called me to come on with them. I took that as a sign

Another change I had to make was being more open to live loads/unloads originally i was only interested in drop and hooks. Ill do any loads now i just dont particularly care set times i prefer open windows the lack of flexibility sucks to me.

I try to never do a Live Load Unload on the same trip I've learned in certain areas to try and do Live unloads so theres no trailer search. But if it pays well enough then I'd do both

Man oh man oh man the things we do for a couple dollars .
So anybody been to that customer in highpoint north carolina with the beautiful dirt lot?
Yeaaahhh you know which one im talking about!

So some backstory First time i went to the customer it was pouring down i got stuck in water saturated mud that gave way beneath my truck and scuffed up my bumper muscling the truck out of the hole.

So Take two I got back The loads pay so #### well i couldn't help it nearly $900 for 300 miles $1400 to go to Jersey Im considering making it a regular stop. Anywho after three hours on back roads (State Routes and US Routes) I get to this stop and I pull to the Gate. Security checks my truck and then says "Hey is that empty?" I say yes and the proceed to tell me that has to go down the road. So I spin in the lot and head back up the road with verbal directions from the guard.

A mile or so up the road I blow by the lot the guy told me about he says you're gonna look for this road the dang thing was a driveway. I get back to this "Driveway" and this things his potholes big enough to swallow the space shuttle i am instantly terrified this customer is going to cause more damage to my tractor, This lot similarly to the main lot is nothing more than a patch of grass someone decided to park trailers on. When i found i spot to park the trailer i backed it in and end up over a hole so big me rear tandem just dangled over it.

I drop that trailer and head back up to the main building get to the gate and notice to building lights and street lights are out. Security says we lost power but we are running on battery power. I give him my pickup number and he says nope thats not good. "boop boop beep"....... "your expected wait time is 2-10 minutes" 20 minutes later support shift answers and gives me the correct number.

So what do you guys think happens next I'll wait........
I walk up to the booth and boom all the computers go out, and i mistakenly slip a son of a b!!!! he looks at the paper and says yup thats right but i cant make a copy of your CDL or registration so i cant release the load, and right on cue it starts raining i sag my shoulders and mope back to my truck and sit for about 35 minutes. At this point the guard comes out with his dimming flash light and says i'll take pictures i wanna get you outta here i feel bad. Get my paperwork and enter the yard 20 minutes later my trailer is mia I cant find it i tell the guard and he says ohhhh!

This place has yet another drop lot so i run down the road again to find this trailer. I get to drop lot #2 and my trailer is parked on top of a dang string of bushes so i get out and a fox or something pops out, I jump right on my cat walk as it checks me then runs of. I drag the trailer out of the hole hook and book outta there before a bear or lion showed up.

All I wanna know is who thinks this S%! up because i cant believe this s%@^ in other news the KW is running absolutely great, i didn't think it was possible but i got it to average 8mpg running mountains and back roads at 63mph.

Home Now taking a day off them 8 straight before a long weekend next week putting the truck in the shop to get a service bulletin handled.

Im considering those airtabs what do you guys think of those I know one of you had them, How'd you install them?

    knuckledragger Thanks this.
