The agony is intensive! Okay, I had my license since 2002, but I stopped working in 2006. Now I'm looking into buying my own truck!
You see my buddy owns a truck brokerage business, and he can help me find loads. So I have work ready, but finding a truck is hard.
I live in California, so I have to follow strict DOT compliance rules, which I already know. I came to the conclusion of buying something that still has
factory warranty left.preferably a 2013-15 truck. Now I saw truck I liked in Tec of Reno,NV, but they're asking 30k down for 2013 Volvo, which has 206k millage. It still has factory warranty left. But 30k down is that alot of money to give down? This will be my first truck, and my credit is 700, which is good.
BTW the price of the truck I'm looking at is 106k.

I would go to my local credit union first. They can probably get you a better rate with less down

You could try a freightliner dealer. Another place to look at is lone mountain. They have a web page. I think they are located in Iowa but they don't ask for huge down payments.

    freightwipper and karma123 Thank this.

Before I went to the Pete dealer (who prequalified me for $95k with $16k down), I went to Lone Mountain. To say I was not impressed is a drastic understatement. They had a 2011 Volvo 780 with 500k and it was an old CRST truck for $72k. I looked at a 07 W900L with 800k and walked out without a word when they said $85k. If you are desperate for a low down, over priced, old fleet spec'd truck, Lone Mountain has you covered. At least that is all I saw at the Vegas location when I visited.

Don't buy a used Volvo, trust what I say, or regret it later. And if you're youngish and it's your first truck purchase, yes, they want a LOT of down payment.

If you have the $30k to put down, look for a clean, maintained older owner-operator truck. But you'll still need to plan on repairs. If you're out of CA, you're probably out of luck due to the emission BS.

I recently got out of my '09 volvo 780 and into a '15 cascadia. The volvo was nickle and diming me big time, about every 2-3 mo. I was having things break and costing me $1000-1500, on top of my payments. Things that never broke/wore out on all the other trucks I've owned, so that was first and Last volvo for me.

Thanks alot guys. My cousin bought a 2008 Volvo from arrow truck sales here in Stockton Ca, and that truck broke the next-day. I feel like that if I do buy a truck then it should be a brand new or at-least a truck that has factory warranty left on it. Today is Sunday, so I'm going to call Lone Mountain tomorrow. I'll check if I qualify for their 2015 cascadia, which is $11-12k down. I'll update everyone here. Thanks so much guy!
