^ That was kinda my point. (Im not an "ex driver" teaming up against you since I am currently still employed by Roehl....) My point is they have their issues too, But I understand as a trainer it looks bad if you point them out.. You can't really believe they are the greatest, They make you say that, just like they tell all the trainers they are the greatest drivers on the road. Its called ego building, its really a bad thing. The first sign of them having issues is allowing people with less than 2 years experience train others. When I went through Phase II I had to help my trainer way to often since he was under experienced. Seat time allows you to experience a variety of situations, and really the day you stop learning something new is the day you should turn in your keys, but after a few years you should have a pretty good grasp of things. I have been around the industry all my life, I still ask myself why I decided to take up a driving job...But I guess they say you end up doing the things your used too. Runs in the family HAHA

I personally am doing very well. Made over 71k as a company driver trainer in 2010 and 2011, made over 78k last year as an O/O Trainer and am on my way to surpass that amount this year if nothing bad happens.
However, I am not gonna even hint to a prospective driver that they can expect that level of income right off the bat. And I think it is equally wrong to make a prospective driver think that they can expect less than 1800 miles per week, which is what some drivers have done on here.
If a prospective driver, or one of my students asks me about ROEHL, I tell them it is a great, if not the very best starter company to begin your driving career with. However, after you get some experience, you may very well find another company that fits your needs better, such as one with higher pay, home every night, local runs, more freedom from micro management, etc...
As far as miles, I tell them that it varies from driver to driver, some claim to average less than 1800 per week while others claim to get over 3000 per week. But the overall company average is somewhere around 2300-2600 per week.
As for myself, I get about 2700-2800 per week average over the course of a full year, but because I am a trainer, that number is most likely higher than a non trainer company driver.
I think that is a fair and balanced assessment that gives a potential ROEHL driver an honest answer that is not full of "gloom and doom" but also shows that I am not "DRINKING THE ROEHL KOOLAIDE" as some posters call anyone who does not 100% bash the company.neff18, Scott72, Tracks and 1 other person Thank this. -
Is it difficult to get a regional job with roehl? Do you need experience OTR first?

Other high traffic areas such as Cleveland, Milwaukee North Indiana/Southern Michigan etc...have dedicated or regional fleets often available.
Call the ROEHL recruiter and they will tell you all the fleet options that are available to you in your area.JRD85 Thanks this. -
I'm thinking about trying to go though roehl for the cdl training and was curious if after the class room and training there do you go home before you go on the road with a trainer or not. Thanks in advance

Roehl sends you home for a few days before going back out with a trainer. I am waiting to go back out. Probably by Wednesday.

Might possible be quicker to be assigned to a trainer and start training if a person stays at the yard, instead of going home first?
