I must be naive and stupid. Haven't once hit snoozed button on my alarm clock for the past 1 year.
Previous seven years off and on hit snoozed button,Knew had some leeway and wouldn't be late or could make up the travel time to company in preference of personal vehicles.

LTL is challenging and rewarding. about 30 minutes till go time.

I like my job and the shenanigans go with it. Not a yes man or good idea fairy. Get my crap done and go the ###### go home. I don't kill routes and help coworkers, Still like this job working the docks or doing p/d and once line haul. It's all not bad, still haven't used the snooze button.

LTL brothers, have a good day :biggrin_255:

Like the old saying goes..."A man who likes his job never works a day in his life". We all need money to survive, but what price do you put on a job that you like/love?

This is how I feel. Doesn't feel like I'm working at all. It's quite fun.

I worked at Target for 4 years unloading trucks, with 5 supervisors over me. Making minimum wage and hoping I would get a .25 raise each year. Then watching my Coworkers who are amazing people and very hard working/ and the reason I stayed so long get .8 cent raises who have been there for a decade or more look at their raise slips and be disgusted by it. Some didn't even get raises some years I was there which is a shame cause they worked way harder than me. By far.

I moved to p&g for a stint and saw trucks come and go and knew I couldn't keep working like I was working on a "factory line." So I moved to Swift. People say it's a bottom feeder; that may be so, may not but it worked for me for 2 years and opened the door for me to come to Raven. I'm thankful for my two years there because if not for them I wouldn't be here feeling like I'm on a big long road trip.

Sure it's work, but it's not break backing work. I believe anyone who is willing to do what needs to be done can find a career where they feel they have hit the jackpot and are just having fun doing what they love doing. It's a mindset, and there needs to be goals and reasons that someone is out here. Alot of research and homework went into looking for my next move as my time with Swift was winding down. I never planned on jumping from one company to another and long term Raven will be the last company I will be a company driver for.

It feels like I'm a owner operator just without the truck expenses and in my young career I've never felt that. 5 to 7 to 10 years from now, who knows? I'm sure I'll be just as happy with them. And if not with them out on my own with my own truck or trucks.

Raven has earned at least 5 years from me at a minimum. Because it has and is teaching me more and more about the industry than I knew before and while doing so no one bothers me while I do my "job" which is what I have been looking for ever since I left my 5 supervisors years ago.

    Driver320 and Shaggy Thank this.

I started loving my job when i became the fill-in guy. Now i do a different run every day, no dock, team truck one day, get off the truck, grab a day cab turn 500 miles... every day. Best job i've ever had.

Before that i hated every job with a passion.

Puppage, Shaggy and Driver320 Thank this.

I love sleep more than certain family members... can't say my Snooze button doesn't have some wear on it.

    The rest I agree with.

One day I hope to say everything that has been posted here so far. I hate my job and have no real options for getting my CDL in my area or any desire to go otr. One day I'll figure it out and jump on the LTL wagon. Until then I'll envy all of you from afar.
