Why do you think that? On track to have 75% of my wage now , payable over 30 years. Counting on 0 growth once retired. Should be able to grow at the 13% it grew during the Obama resession . Taking 3% to live on , my balance should larger at the end then at the start. My money ! Pull it out tomorrow if I want.

Try reading. And both houses will be paid for by then. Will not need near as much income at that point. And not foolish enough to think SS or my pension(yes) will be there. But can count on my money.

Legacy cost associated with a pension plan is very difficult to maintain. Anyone remember ENRON? Pension gone with the swipe of a hand. Same goes for 401k or anything else I suppose. Money management is important for an individual, there is not a union or government that can do more for you than yourself.

There are always folks that are gonna blame their lack thereof (both now and in the future) on what someone else didn't do for them, versus taking responsibility for themselves.

    sdaniel Thanks this.

That's why I hide my money in a ugly robotic transgender ginger midget blow up doll with 2 limbs. No one will ###### with it. The retirement thing is so far away, Easier hording paychecks for a 100% return of funds.

If the union has a real game plan, no two tier wage system, rock the corporate office...

The company does not have its hands on a 401k , it's your money. A pension can go way at a drop of a hat. Was working in air freight, in 1998 during the UPS strike. The company checked the pension books (was broke), that was one of the things the company wanted to do , was change to a 401k . Instead of funding a mismanaged pension . That way he/she would own their retirement fund. Find a good company to work for, you can do quite well with just the company match. The company I work for last year paid .76 for every dollar paid in. Where else can you get a 76% return on your investment? Then the interest starts. Even during the recession I was able to get 13.96 % a.r.o.i.
