Hey everyone. I'm new to the forum and industry. I was a police officer for 8 years, but unfortunately an injury has brought that. I'm single wwith no kids, so I decided to give truck driving a go. I'm excited to learn something new. I start FFE academy on Monday morning. I live 15 miles from the school so I will be commuting. Anyone have any advice or recommendations for school? Thanks in advance.
Student starting on Monday with FFE!

Its just one of things you have to get through. The school is to get you licensed, FFE will put you with a trainer after that. Listen to the instructors, the other students will of course already be experts, so take them with a grain of salt.
Good luck, sorry about your career loss. -
So you was a cop huh,I imagine you're familer with the HOS.Theres a lot of ex cops joining this industry.Good luck with the career you chose and with FFE.
mje Thanks this. -
Since you've been in law enforcement before don't be afraid to play that card when DoT or highway patrol are being aggressive with you. Federal regulation has pushed law enforcement and drivers into a more adversarial role than they used to be.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I was supposed to start today. Got to class all excited, did my paperwork, took my physical and drug screen. Then the doctor looked at my paperwork and left the room. He then came back with a stack of papers and started looking through. Well apparently a medication I listed as being prescribed disqualified me with the company. So I now have a letter from my doctor saying I don't need the script (because I really don't) and I have to wait 2 weeks from today to start again.

jeeze you'd figure that the DoT doctor that did your physical so you could get your learners permit would of caught that.
