I just finished orientation at their Chattanooga, TN location. The Company to this point has been very good with me. After you have gone through an orientation with any company, not just this one, the blogs will make a lot more sense to you in terms of understanding what each submitter is saying.

This Company is very strict with respect to past records, both MVR and Court issues. On our last day of orientation, most of the drivers were sent out with trainers. I believe approximately three of the 30 or so members were sent home; two were sent back to the hotel to await a trainer, and the rest were immediately sent out. In my case, I had to travel back to Miami, FL to see the physician who prescribes my maintenance prescription to get a note from hm stating that I was able to drive a tractor trailer. In my travels, U.S. Xpress has paid for all of my transportion, including two bus rides, one airline flight, and the gasoline I used in my personal vehicle to get to Miami from my residence.

I was invited back to be hired once I had the letter. This is nothing that the Company has done and they have not caused me any problems with this procedure. With the number of people that go through each Company, there is really no way to handle the mounds of paperwork involved unless you are there in person. In the case of U.S. Xpress, they will guide you through what you need.

I am looking forward to a long and healthy relationship with this Company. I have no plans to move to what is being described as a "good company" after six months. I have been treated with complete respect, but that is because I have approached this new career with a higher standard than simply being labeled as a "truck driver." If you want to be a professional, be treated like a professional, then you must act like a professional.

    Good luck!

Same old, same old. Driver gives his/her assessment of a good experience and then gets called a recruiter. Get a life! People do have the riight to report good experiences because there are good experiences even with the companies others feel are lousy.

Thanks, billy, for the info. I am torn between USX and a couple of other companies that hire in my area. I look for both the good and bad experiences to weigh out n making my decision. You hit the nail on the head when you said it has to do with attitude. A lot of people show why they ahve problems; it is their attitude which comes through loud and strong on here.

ive been with USX just over 4 months and things have been really good. miles have picked up(i did have to let them know i wanted more miles though) pay is always what it should be. the only negative, if you wanna call it that is that a lot of their runs are short, 300-500mi. I personally dont like the shorter runs, and after having said that to my fleet manager ive been receiving runs of 800mi or more. sometimes it just takes communication. ive posted several times about USX on here, look those up if you have the time.
PATIENCE is key in this industry. good luck--

I am never offended by any comments such as being a good recruiter and as such, I will continue to assist where I feel I can do the most good.

All of these blogs center on each other's individual experience(s), which they should, but the picture they paint may not always be the intention of the writer. I don't think that every blog is a true reflection of what our colleagues truly believe. I think there is a good amount of venting, but that is going to be the case for all of us with less than six months. I am retired from two white collar professions and have managed many offices in my day. What I am seeing (overall) with all of the companies I have contacted, or who have contacted me, are good business plans in place; however, I do not see a solid organizational execution of what the Company is trying to accomplish. Rather than assess the situation and handle it like an adult, all too often a nasty blog appears saying the Company sucks because somebody's check is 14 hours late.

U.S. Xpress keeps (generally) the top 15% of all applications. The other 85% are thrown out. They are in a position to do just that and if I were them, I would too. Of those 15% left, I can't begin to tell you the number of applicants who thought that the rest of us were somewhere out in left field and wouldn't know about their felony, DUI, suspended licenses, etc. If we are all honest up front, we won't be wasting not only the Company's time, but our own as well.

Just as I am having a good experience with U.S.X., I will certainly be happy to balance out my opinion if something really bad happens. I don't see that happening, but in all fairness, I have no problems with giving both sides of what happens. I still recommend going to U.S.X., but that's because it suits the needs of myself and my wife. (The kids are in college now so that makes it easier to narrow down my field of offers.)

Good luck. I hope to see you out there on the road soon.

You guys do have a couple of Finnish truck drivers driving for you. Does that count that they are good?
