I almost fell for the same thing - late model, low price and miles, like 2011's under 250K. Fortunately I called the fleet manager of the company that traded them in. He started by saying that legally he couldn't talk about the trucks as part of the trade terms - WHAT? Long story made short, he said without saying to run away as fast and far as you can. Enough said.
Maxx Engines in International's.

Serves them right, sooner or later I knew they'd have to own up to selling cheap, gutless, troublesome junk. -
I got lucky and was able to bail out of the purchase of the Cat C15 and never looked back at the MaxxForce Truck... I just bought an 05 Volvo with a Cummins Engine... SO I can breath a little easier

Junk, if you must get an int make sure it has a cummins.

I wouldn't risk a 2009-2010. I might be tempted by a 2011-2012 for a fantastic price. And if I had to buy a new truck, I wouldn't hesitate to get a new $105,000 2013 with a 5yr/500,000 warranty.
Keep the idling down, clean the dozer every 3 months, the egr system every 6 months, bake the dpf every 2 years, & you'll have a decent carb-legal truck. I wouldn't recommend it if you're going to put a driver in it, but it can be a good value for an attentive owner operator with a little work space & inclination.
The other thing to remember is the weight -- only 17,350 lbs for a carb-legal double bunk condo with tag axle & apu (a comparable dd15 Cascadia is ~19,000 lbs).Last edited: Oct 14, 2014
