I don't know what they charge their o/o's, but one would think you would at least contact them and see if they would send you an expense sheet listing them all. That way you know for sure.

 

what trucking company DON'T you heard horror stories about?

 

How is it being company driver . Your weekly gross average (pay/miles) , trucks governed, do you bus or fly to or orentation and how long is it , e log or paper

 

Recruiter told me 65mph. Satellite TV in all trucks. 2500-300 miles week. Normal 14 daysout for 2 home.don't quote me but I think he said 3 day orientation. And they run elogs. He said between 50-60 k year should be pretty realistic number.

 

You can't look at miles here. Have to look at what the loads pay. Company drivers get a percentage of the load not an cpm rate.

I have been been told as long as your revenue stays in good standing, hometime is not an issue. I choose to stay out extended periods, sometimes almost 4 months, so it hasn't been a problem.

They will reimburse your expense to get to orientation. So it's up to you on how you get there.

I should be in the upper 60k range this year and even though I have spent a lot of time out, I'm still getting to know rates and lanes. Should be even higher next year.

 

never heard of a company driver needing to know "rates and lanes".
Do you pick your lanes that you run and get paid on %?

 

You don't truly pick where you run, since dispatch gives out the loads. They ask where you would like to go or prefer not to run. Sometimes the area you are in, and the loads that are there, don't always allow you to be picky.

If you can stay in better areas, you will be paid more since we get a percentage of the load.

 

It pretty much goes like this.... There are how many drivers out here? I think I read 3 million, might be wrong not sure
anyway with that many drivers I am sure there's a few that either couldn't get hired on at LH or any other certain company they don't like, or they did and are no longer there for whatever reason

what one person likes isn't what another does, a huge factor is your home location and if freight is higher in your area or if you like running where it is
another factor is how often you want or need to be home
and the last is what you call good money, what may be good to you another guy wouldn't leave home for.

I ran under my own authority hauling cars the past several years and bought a conestoga and leased on to LH last year to see if I liked not having to do all the work, so far it's been decent, are there better companies? don't know but at LH there are a lot of guys that have been there many years and I think they have about 100+ company and 200+ owner ops and it seems if you don't quit your first 90 days then you might make it

I assume no matter who you sign on with there's going to be a learning curve on where that particular company has there own best freight and so forth

I did some digging before going to LH and personally I couldn't find as much negitive information on them as I could on almost every other company with the exception of Mercer and Landstar which were two others I considered and heard good things about

 

sounds like a good company in my opinion
