On our air ride tank trailers we're supposed to dump the trailer air bags before we drop a loaded trailer. If we don't and the air bleeds out of the bags while sitting there it puts a bind on the dollies and make them hard to raise and lower. I've seen brand new dollies last only a few weeks before you couldn't move them anymore. Yeah, I know the bags shouldn't bleed out, but you all know it happens. After that I lower the dollies to @ 1/2" to1" from the ground, drop trailer the rest of the way by dumping the tractor bags and pull out slowly.

Are you a driver, a student or someone who wants to know so they can screw with someone's trailer?

The one I have in my truck is a Holland Air Release fifth wheel. It's difficult to find any information about it but here's a little insert I found in one of their pdf files that shows the release handle and gives a quick explanation. I don't know how to make the picture bigger.
