You're not going to make $2 a mile with a 2 car open trailer, maybe $1.50 on a good day.

    Skate-Board Thanks this.

Yup! I talk to those Hot Shot guys every chance I can. I was really surprised how their expenses were close to mine. They run through tires, engines and transmission pretty quick and lots of cash for hotel rooms. Their mileage was pretty bad also. Pontoon boats are good paying loads for them.

He has a 4 car wedge. He had a 3 car at one time. My friend hauls a lot of cars others don't want to mess with, such as inops. He had a winch on his 3 car to pull them on his trailer.

I spoke with my friend today and he said that he grossed $4,000 this week. Not a bad week. He didn't recall how many miles he drove.

I agree with Skate-Board. You might have a load that pays well enough to where you think your gonna make it big but then the next load might pay a third of that. Idk where you are gonna be running but always make sure where ever you are delivering to has loads coming out of there.

You are going to need at least a 3 or 4 car trailer if you plan on making any money with cars. I have seen a few pulling 5 cars with a one ton, but you will need to be careful with your weight when putting more than 4 cars on a dually.

As long as you get big enough plates you should be fine.

Jeff, I live near you. I've hauled cars and flatbed in our area. I've found running loads WITHOUT the trailer is most profitable. Many pay the same or better than the trailer does. Oil/Gas companies needs things quickly. Hauling cars with a pick up is tough! Very hard on the truck! Weight isn't near as bad as the wind drag. I have two customers in Canton..I'm sure you'll get them if you're smart. Just send me a message if you have questions, I'll help anyway I can. Dynamic (Tyler) TMS (Tyler) Hazels (dallas area) and H2 (Longview) are all carriers I get loads from.
GOOD LUCK this business can cost you dearly, in many ways. I've managed to carve out a niche and I'm happy now but it wasn't easy. Hauling cars I did best with Synergy, ask for Gina she's /was over our area.
