Well, as the title suggests, I might be searching for a new company soon. I got into trucking after military service ended and I do enjoy it, but other factors might become a larger part of my looking to move to a new company. I don't want to name my company right now, but I will say that I am in flatbedding.
Reasons I might be looking to move:
Truck has been a shop queen which ends up with me not getting paid well.
Injuries that tend to get worse due to some of the equipment i.e. tarps.
Inability to take hometime in locations I was promised.

Bit about me. I live in Kent, WA. I have family in the Midwest and on the east coast. I do enjoy visiting them from time to time. I currently run OTR and enjoy it.

Basically, I am looking for a company that runs the 48, pays decent enough to support a 1000 per month rent, and has a general good feel to them. I.e, DMS that try and care. I really do enjoy flatbeds, but the taping just might end up more than my body can handle. I was injured in the military, with my dominant shoulder taking a nice rebuilding process after. I was told this shouldn't effect it, but it is starting to. Hell, I even looked into owner op for the reason of no tarp or picking what I Tarped etc... Generally though, I do enjoy flatbed. Conistoga trailers would be a definite plus for me but I don't know many companies that use them a lot. I love securement and the hands on nature of flatbeds, and I heard conistoga or curtain sides are basically the same as flatbeds as far as securement goes? Is this true?

Sorry for the oddball scattered nature of this post. Trying to keep an eye on Werner about to hit my truck... If any veterens might know of a company or two who might fit what I've described, please let me know. Also, being out long doesn't bother me. I average 4 weeks out, but have gone for 11.

Dump the apartment. Put that grand/month in your pocket and live in the truck. It adds up really fast, if you can do that.

HalpinUout, Skate-Board and ncmickey Thank this.

Can't do JJ as I dont have tanker or hazmat. I'm not married, but I don't wanna sell the house either. Long story on that one. I wouldn't mind hauling a van as long as the miles are good.

Hell, I just talked with a landstar driver and am pondering owner op as well. Just pondering it though.

You could run down and get your tanker and haz real quick if you wanted.. Not really a big deal. The practice tests on this forum are more than enough help to pass the tests. And to add to Chinatown's list, I was just hired by Groendyke. Only 1 year driving exp required

We had California Interstate Express bring west coast flatbed loads in for us. Drivers seemed to be happy.
