We get 5 points ($0.05) per gallon on our Pilot card. Loves offers 1 - 4 points (depending on reward tier). That's a factor that should be considered when looking for fuel. Sure, one can argue that its not the same, but money is money. Whether you save it at the pump or get money for later, its still money in your pocket.

So in effect, we save a NET OF $0.10/gallon at Pilot/Flying J and $0.06 - $0.09/gallon at Loves

OK I see what you are getting at.

Its like buying 50 gallons of fuel at Pilot and getting a free shower. Normally, they charge $10-$12, so add that to you cost or savings and the price per gallon is a bit less. So if the fuel costs $4.00 a gallon (for the sake of this example), the $200.00 you pay for fuel is offset by the $10.00 you don't have to pay for a shower. Add all the other incentives you have and the cost is less. That's why the truck stop operators want you there. They, too, make much more profit on your 50 gallon purchase than the $10 revenue they lose by giving you a shower.

I get a free shower at Pilot Flying J everyday regardless if I fuel or not.

....what? Your subtracting your free shower from your fuel cost? What kind of sideways thinking logic is that?

It is a stretch and not something I do regularly (computing shower savings) but my point was it's all about money in and out of your pocket, which is the bottom line. Money saved, whether from a shower or at the pump, is money you don't have to pull out of your pocket. Obviously, if you have enough Pilot shower credits or you get fuel elsewhere, my little example loses some of its flavor.

Didn't bring up the axle part cuz our trucks are rated at 14000 lbs.
