Crete doesn't offer a lease/purchase or lease.. all you can do is BUY one of their retired Freightshakers if you want.

No pets are allowed for solo drivers but are allowed for team drivers.
Why you ask? Because they're anal about you idling your truck here and they wouldn't want you idling for your pet.

I'm a Shaffer OTR driver or in other words.. Crete's reefer division.

Pay here is .44-.47 depending on experience and you are paid on practical mile.
Top pay is .50 which you work your way up by working here if you stay.
It's .01 per year if you meet their requirements for a raise which isn't too difficult.
You get extra pay for dispatches under 300 miles and extra stops pay $30.

If you want to be an OTR company driver and want to get paid well, this is a great place to be.
However the trucks are cheap and you will be a number here.
Can't have it all of course.

Back to work today...1400+ miler (inc. deadhead) from SC to Sioux City. Unfortunately, the shipper is Rock Tenn in Florence, and there were not enough Crete empties...so,I'm live loading. 5 hours from arrival to start of loading. Looks like at least a dozen boxes here at present waiting.....

First time at Chicago Truck Parking. Probably not the best place to run out your 14. Kind of regretting that recent truck wash

have a question for a Crete or Shaffer driver or employee I'm attending orientation next week and they require a
Pretrip inspection and road test on the first day if you miss anything on your pretrip
Or road test will they fail you and send you home or is it just to
See what you know befor they send you out with a trainer?

a random driver will "test" you, unless you really suck or you get stuck with that rare prick Crete driver, you should be fine.

    Maybe I'll test you.

I'm very cautious of what I'm doing because we all have family driving out on the road and I definitely would like to be safe out there. I start orientation Monday.
