Any idea on what the hours are like over there?
I just applied to a local in Albuquerque and am trying to get off the milk hauling thing(different start time every day, killing my sleep schedule.)
Long hours aren't really an issue, as long as the start time remains the same.
I'm in with Groendyke

My first 2 days of training I don't have to be there til 9 am lol but on Wednesday of next week I will let you know if it changes
harlycharly55 Thanks this. -

No dice on the app, just your typical "thanks for applying".
Oh well, still employed where I'm at and attempting to keep things afloat here.
It's nice to get out and try some other places every once in awhile.
Two plus years on the same boat, so I figure that's long enough to start testing other waters.
A whole lot longer than some other places I've been at. -

Ryan, why don't you tell us a little about the orientation and training you received.

harlycharly55 and HauntedSchizo19 Thank this.

I will tell about the training. I start Monday. Was told the first 2 days will be spent watching videos

What I do know is that these guys are way above my level when it comes to knowing their stuff. The trainer that gave me the road test called me out on every little thing I did wrong. Not in a doosh way either. Just let me know the way they do business. I fully expect that this is one of the safest companies I will ever work for.

First day was video watching. Got there about 9 am. Left about 4 pm. But the terminal took me to lunch on her. So we spent probably an hour there. After lunch I just put a dip in and powered through the second half of the stack of videos. I will say some of the videos contained very useful and helpful information. Day 2 was today. Got there at 11:30 am. Left at 3 pm. Did paperwork, competence testing for hauling crude oil and hazardous waste, and issued my ppe. The ppe was very cool for me since I've never used any of this type of stuff before. Tomorrow I will be in a truck with a trainer. Supposed to report in at 6 am and I don't see it being a long day. Don't like the idea of having someone I don't know very well scrutinize every move I make but oh well. Also I was paid for 10 hours on each of the first 2 days. Minimum 10 hour pay but don't ask what the hourly rate is because I didn't ask lol. I dont really care. Minimum is $600 a week while in training. On a side note, I had to buy some steel toes. I went overboard when I saw the new Cinch work boots. Spent 250 after taxes but they are freakin awesome.
