Oh yeah, it DOES happen, believe me. Luckily, I never got stuck on a roadway, so I didn't have to worry about traffic. But man, have I ever been stuck. And yeah, both times were basic stupidity on my part. But I never had any company question me about paying the tow bill.

I have to wonder what happened though, if he got into a position where he was blocking traffic when he got stuck.

I did see one time when a truck pulled off onto a soft shoulder and got stuck. He put out a call for help, and a friendly truck driver stopped to help him. Got a chain onto the helper's trailer and the helpee's (is that a word?) tractor, then proceeded to try to pull him out. Did not succeed. But he did succeed in twisting his drive shaft off of the truck that was doing the pulling. And he was still on pavement, effectively blocking the southbound lane of SR 86, which at that time was a very busy, (main route from Mexicalli to Los Angeles,) two lane road. . .

But even with that, the blocking truck wasn't "stuck," he had a break down of his equipment.

I dunno, the other thing that comes to mind with a truck being "stuck blocking traffic," would be getting jammed up under a low clearance overpass.

    Tis a puzzlement! :biggrin_2559:

If they don't have a signed agreement that the driver is responsible for the first $500 or more of a chargeable incident, then they need to pay it and move on.

The only thing I would pay for is a truck wash.

Why? I know there is a certain amount of "pride in your ride," but if your company is too cheap to pay for the truck wash, it's time to find a new company. At least that is my feeling.

Agreed. Its sad if this company doesn't pick up the tow bill. The way I see it, your truck, you pick up all bills unless there is a contract that says you pick up the bill for x amount due to driver negligence. Even then I wouldn't go to work for a company that has one. Accidents happen and that's what insurance companies are for.

Example: driver drags trailer tandems up on a short post on a corner ripping air lines off trailer and flattening 2 tires(yes it happened)blocking the entrance to a location..
Repair bill and wrecker fees are paid by who?

Example: Truck owner gives driver a fuel card and a fuel book..Driver(cuz he is a idiot) runs out of fuel is on shoulder needs tow/service.
    Who pays the bill?

Still working on getting details, but I'm on the clock now, with about an 11 hour night ahead of me. I'll try to update in the morning.

the owner does.. in both examples..the owner takes all the risks and gets all the rewards...Example ...I hire your company to install a granite countertop & you drop it and break it...who pays for the new one ?..you would and you lost any possible profits for that job.
