Good luck -
I was imprecise. I apologize. My assumptions were that as a new driver he would drive for up to 11 hours each day and he would have babysitting responsibilities for the remianing hours of his 14 hour clock. Now he just worked 14 hours (at least) each day for his 35 to 40 grand. We take 5 days a week (minimum) times 14 hours each day times 52 weeks a year = 3640 hours of work annually. We divide his optimistic 40 grand by 3640 and we get 10.99/hr. Thus although he isn't at 50% he is earning substantially less per hour than he did before even if his annual income has increased. And what if we add a sixth or seventh day per week??? I was out for 5 weeks strait my first solo run.

ah yes, I LOVE it! another dreamer who has "always wanted to drive a truck since they were a kid....and they looooooove to drive.........and they're not afraid of 'hard' work......"
can a truck driver on here inform these future unemployed "truckers" the other 10,000 aspects of this job? I'd hate to see yet another retiree blow $5,000 on 4 weeks of "schooling." -
hey cheif if your back on here i am not a dreamer and no i am not a retiree just a guy lookin for somthing diffrent and if we could not dream a little what else woul there be. if you live long enough your going to get old.

aw, jest ignore Chief - he's jest a grumpy fart. (I was gonna say "old fart", but he's a heck of a lot younger than us'ns. Maybe he's jest aged prematurely)
Some people don't understand that after 30 years of doing one thing, some of us are interested in doing something else - or at least finding out if certain other jobs are what we want to do. Sure, it may turn out that we HATE trucking. But there's no way to tell other than try it. If we didn't, there'd be no newbies for Chief to pick on -
why wait til august? by the time your done with training and on your own in your own truck you will be driving in winter. I would want to get some drive time in while the weather is good to get comfortable with the truck before you encounter winter weather driving.
