Id sell the one car and get a three car for starters or you will go backwards really quick.
Depending on where you live since you have got income and can wait on payments if you need to, id look at the local rail yards and whos hauling out of those me and alot of guys here pull out of the rails and are home every night.
So you could pull 1-2 shorts around town.
Wont have the headache of bidding on freight and looking for loads during slow times.
Depending on the company and if you lease or sub you will need different things
Some will give you insurance some will not.
But this time of year you should be ready to make a killing at UPS lol

COST per mile in a paid for pickup and trailer will be around .80 to .90 cents per mile.$ Thats fuel, insurance and maintenance. Cars pay .50 to .80 cents per mile.$ Entry fees are about 2500-3000$. Don't forget your meals and lodging.$ 90% of 3 car guys go broke. One tranny or a couple damage claims at $1000 each (which is the deductable) and yer toast. 3 car guys still need a cdl A.$ Most 3 car guys get desperate and pull cars waaaaaayy too cheap. like .40 cpm. DON'T EVER DO THAT!!! everyone needs to hold out or simply ask for more money. Uship is surely CRAP !! Do the math, sincerely, Ben There.

80-90 cpm in a dually?? Must be some high insurance or you put back a lot for shop money.

When I had my dually and diesel was at $3 a gallon my cpm calculated at running 100, 000 miles a year was $.75 per mile. Id did get crappy fuel mileage though.

Yes I do put alot back in for shop money and replacement of the vehicle also. A pickup truck is not built as heavy as a semi and won't last as long. The frame, springs, brakes, and drive line just aren't built to withstand that heavy use day after day, it's inevitable that they will break down more often and not last as long.(redundant). Also spend enough nights in a pickup and you'll start saving for a sleeper truck real quick. Insurance for me (30 yrs.experience) was $1500 down and $900 per mo. Most new guys pay between $13,000 and $15,000 per year for ins. My estimate was based on 6 to 7,000 miles per month. The more miles you run the less cost per mile. Back in the day of $1.00 per mile cars you could do O.K.with a 3 car, and if everyone would just not pull for under .80 cpm we would ALL do much better. Just sayin. Say NO to cheap cars. or at least ASK for more money. make it a habit> A rising tide floats aLL boats.
