    T Trucker, what happened? John who drives for UZ was going to talk to the owner about lease/purchase. Do you know some insight to tell him?

    The lease purchase is a decent deal, I wouldn't suggest the lease. Too hard to make some good money. I did talk to bobby today about a lease purchase deal. And I'm considering it, I'm looking to get a 2000-2003 peterbuilt 379 in good shape around 40-50k. I have money for a down payment just need bobby to finance it for me and he said he would today. I would recommend UZ TRANS overall. They will keep you busy, that is forsure. I drive all day take a 10 hour break (to the min) and im hauling ### again. Just think about the LP first, I would suggest the purchase, just not the straight lease. They have plenty of frieght and good paying loads. I took a load today paying me 3.75 for 800 miles. My last load was 3.09 for 550 miles.

    Thanks for the info. I will pass it on to John and tell him to talk to Bobby like you did. Sounds like a good deal. Good luck with your "new' truck.

    It was a joke man lol chill.
    Anyway I'm going to start on Schneider choice on Dec 15th and will write a thread about it.
    I'm done dealing with dispatchers, load planners etc.. I'm not leaving my livelihood up to them. That's mainly why I choose SNI over Prime.

    T_TRUCKER• Thanks this.

    Congrats man! I look forward to hearing how you like it im sure you will! What truck are you going for?
    If I were you I'd save up enough for a down payment on the 680!

    Thanks
    That's what I'm getting. It's $5k down, $3k of which is a security deposit which is doubled and returned to me at the end of the lease..
    It's not a bad deal, after the 3 years I have an option to buy the truck for $65k while it's still under warranty for probably around another year.
    I will share my story and pictures once I get going.
    Just want the freedom man, no dispatchers and no brokers for me.

    Well fellas things are "smoothing" out. It has been a rough trip out, a lot of loads that I have gotten have had VERY tight drop off times, and some impossible. Last night I had to swap trailers because it's impossible for me to do 1100 miles in one day.....yeah. Anyways I think and know from experience that there is money to be made here, and I realize that no company is perfect but I will say that I NEVER have to worry about sitting/waiting on loads. And the loads I get pay very very well. My average this trip out has been 2.48. Now, what I need to do is figure out how to lower my weekly overhead. And my solution and a few ideas I have that I will be talking to bobby about tomorrow are,switching to dry Van. For a few reasons, but mainly the crazy app times and the hurry up and wait game. ALSO with dry van I get 84% of the load. I'm good with that seeing how most company's don't pay above 70.

    i understand that dry van pays less, BUT without paying for reefer fuel and not sitting at these places to get empty/loaded I stand to get a extra trip in every week. Also my dispatcher is awesome! Nobody is perfect and she has made her mistakes but she always does her best to fix any problem. She came in yesterday to fix my last load. Have nothing bad to say about Diane, Great dispatcher.

    now, since Bobby has offered to finance any truck id like, I'm struggling with old vs new. Obviously My goal is to net more weekly, and the way I see it is if my overhead dropped id be clearing 2k a week EASY. I'm grossing around 5-6k weekly. But my overhead is to high. Challenger jim or roadcall, what do you guys think for example about an 05 volvo? If I'm paying 2-3 hundred a week? I plan to find out the details tomorrow but I know it just had a bunch of work done, idk if that's good or bad lol. Or option 2 is to get a newer truck, that still has warranty left. I Want to make money but not be broke down all the time or be truck poor. So I am also open to suggestions you guys have all been driving along time. So I'm talking to bobby tomorrow and if things go well then I will start the beginning of December.

    I'm tossing the idea of a newer 660 (Cummins) or a newer cascaida. I think those 2 should be a safe gamble lol.

    Heres the thing T;

    Out of the choice of either a T660 or Cascadia, id go with a Detroit powered Cascadia. You could also consider a cummins powered T680. Avoid any trucks with the Volvo engines. Once the warranty runs out, your kinda screwed as it costs $$$ to maintain them. Also, you could go with a truck that's pre-emissions meaning no later than 03 build date without the EGR. Ever considered a glider??? If it were me and I'd been giving this opportunity, id be looking at the following;

    Glider kit (Freightliner Columbia or Coronado) w/ 12.7 Detroit mated to 13spd
    T680 Cummins powered or Detroit powered Cascadia
    98-03 pre egr truck

    Starting out, you want a truck that gets good fuel mileage. Also, you want an apu to charge your batteries at night and provide you comfort (if bobby's willing to finance, get one). Cutting down idling time will make the engine last longer. If you do go for the older truck, get a dyno and see if the engines been rebuilt. If not, get it rebuilt with warranty.
