Picking the right truck

each truck company has there own unique problems with each of there models. basically the are pretty much the same under the cab,would pay more attention to the gear ratio, transmission, motor, length,and weight of the truck. in todays world fuel mileage is the name of the game. if you are behind the curve in the mileage game it will be a up hill battle for you from day one. in the old days i bought petes with cat motors because they had better resale. just a couple of things for you to think about. lots of luck on your choice

 

Buy the Peterbilt,,this is a no brainer..

I'd vote peterbilt. If you can afford the extra amount of money for it the build quality will be worth it

 

And if the Pete is saddled with C12 or MX13?

She didnt give enough details of either truck. Its like saying which pick up truck should I buy,. Ford or Chevy,.. the Ford could be a basic work truck and the Chevy could be a decked out Silverado or vice versa.

I've seen some plain and spartan Petes out there. Basically a heater on 10 wheels.

I'm not a fan of the new Internationals,.. I like Petes just on principle,.. but if the ProStar were ISX powered vs a Paccar powered Pete,.. think I'd have to go with the ProStar.

Do not get a dpf truck.( Or EGR for that matter)

 

wow, thos are the opposite ends of the spectrum.

IMO:

International: Junky cheap trucks that fall apart ...bad motors if you buy international motor...just junk all the way around.

Freghtliner:cheap trucks, that have cosmetics fall apart. Built to make you money. Ugly, no thrills, but good solid drivetrain. Parts are cheap, although interior will need work before other trucks. Not a bad rig, but dont expect a perfect smooth ride, or many reall nice features. They do how ever have huge windows and are designed for driver saftey and fuel economy.

Petes: (owned by pacar) Since the good ol days, pete hasn't made a decent truck. They still are clasier then FL or int and are nicer then FL or INT, but lack comon sense. They were all about looks, but miss simple things like cup holders and convinant switch placement. The newer ones are better for the driver, but lack the old look petes are known for. They are more solid then an fl or int, but repairs are way more expensive.

Kenworth: (owned by pacar) The most solid trucks on the road. They can handle more abuse then any other truck. The interior is solid. Driver comfort is decent. Small windows on the mid roofs make visibility not as good as int or FL. More expensive to repair, but looks better going down the road. They made decent looking aerodynamic trucks that have great driver features.

Volvo: Cadillac of trucks. Smoothest ride, best driver features, best safty and comfort. Ugly...Very ugly. Heavy to. If you want to be comfortable on the road, nothing beets a volvo. That being said, they are the most expensive to repair. They have so much computer controlled stuff that maintenance can be harder. MPG isnt as good as a new FL. But, you can drive a volvo with 1 foot and 1 finger. the i shift is the best auto trans on the market.

If you want a truck to ake you money, by freghtliner. If you want to look cool doing it, buy a KW. if you want driver comfort, by a volvo, but be prepared to make less money.
