Got orientation scheduled in 2 weeks. Hope to have a solid experience as you have. About the 7 weeks bit you said you wouldn't do that again. Is it easy to avoid and just do 2-3-4 or is it luck of the draw for new guys such as myself

Covenant is really good with getting you home as requested. They have that $100 a day hometime guarantee. Each day You miss home time, 100 dollars will be reimbursed for up to two days. I think the minimum is 3 weeks out. Its helps a lot that codriver and I both live pretty close to the pomona, ca terminal. Always freight going in and out of there. No, you don't have to stay out for 7 weeks if you don't want to.

I can see why some people complain though. Not so much the company but the job itself. A lot of work and definitely stressful. .. Going to try this for at least two years. Maybe I'll have money for college by then or just take a long vacation.

Yea. I expect to be gone a good bit. But the problem is I am married and my wife suffered some major injuries this past year so she isn't as easily able to do all the things around the house as normal. So coming back every few weeks to maintain not only our home but my marriage is pretty important. I do hope to get regional in a year or two due to this situation. Also I have no kids. But the only things holding that up was money, now it's the injuries and money so again being gone that long of a stretch would be a problem. But not unwilling to do it especially during a busy period but at the same time I want to keep my family happy as well.

Incorrect. You need to stay out a minimum of 2 weeks not three. Unless you're on one of the dedicated accounts that get home weekly.

There's openings from time to time for dedicated accounts out of that area that could get you home weekly

Yea. That's what my recruiter said. She also said they have 2 sister companies that run solo in that area. So I should be ok

Can I ask a question about working at covenant? I have been there for only six months so I do not qualify for FMLA.
In a few weeks my father is going to have to leave the country to take care of his sister who recently had heart surgery. If and when he does leave I will need to go back home for a couple months to take care of my mother. She can barely get around after her back surgery and can not perform basic functions so she needs someone there to look after her.

Is there any way I can explain the situation to Covenant and maybe take a couple months off with a leave of absence since I do not qualify for FMLA? I really enjoy working for them and I do not want to lose my job, I just do not see another alternative. My mom won't trust a stranger to take care of her and the rest of my family lives in another country. I don't want to ruin my career in the first year but I really need to take a couple months off to look after her.

Is there any suggestions on what I can do? Does anyone know if Covenant would let me take a leave of absence and then return to work? Does anyone have experience or heard about Covenants policy regarding this. I really love my job with them and I don't want to lose it, I just don't see any way around this. Any help is greatly appreciated.
