The retired sessional people are heading home as well. This will open up deliveries for a few of the remaining full time drivers to stay active for a few more weeks. After that - its a slog until next March.renegadedave Thanks this. -

Now that it's busy again it's a great business. Hope it stays this way for the winter.

I'm keeping good thoughts. Even here in Texas, (Plano), I would not want to be out in this weather. Of course it may be i'm just too old to be cold.

Warmshot, Glad to hear you are doing well and liking it. I did two runs for a "company" out of Elkhart. They were contracting for another company so I guess you could say I was sub sub contracting. Driving one of their trucks for .35 a mile loaded which was ok since they were paying for the fuel. I took two bumper pulls one to AL, and one too VA. Before I left for the VA run I let them know that I would be taking the weekend off to see the wife who is finishing up a nursing assignment. I had not seen her for a week and I know for some that is normal but for us it was not and after 28 years of marriage it was hard going for a week. On my way back from VA they called me and said they had a hot load to leave out for AL, a 900 mile run, they wanted me to come back and load and leave out that afternoon as soon as I got back. I told them that one I was going to be out of hours when I got back and two I reminded them about seeing my wife that weekend.
They said that I did not have to log my hours on the return trip and they didn't care about me seeing my wife that they had a business to run. I told them I would be back around 4pm and that they could have their truck back.
I went to the company that they contract for and let them know what they told me about the hours and that they also told me not to stop at the scales either. The contractor was running under the original companies authority so the guy I talked to was not very happy when I left.
So I am not done as soon as I get my own truck I will go back and drive for the main company.
