Hi I am looking for advice and
suggestions on who are some of the better owner operator friendly carriers out there. I have operated for 3 years with a good driving and safety record. Don't mind running miles as I don't have to be home often. I just feel if I'm going to be professional and successful, Id like to contract with a similiar minded carrier. Any help
in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Be nice to know where you are. You can't lease with a co running all the Northern lanes and live in LA or CA to OR and live in ME. RTFQ before you post it.

if you already got your own truck, check out DCL trucking out of indianapolis, been here just about 7 months and love it. no issues, no worries, home time no problems, really want to do your own thing without all the hassles then check them out or pm me and i can get you info.

Owner will sit down with you and write everything out in black and white, new trailer, etc...etc...

like i said no issues here in 7 months and cannot find a thing to complain about and he will give you a choice of running paper or elog. (i am on paper) until its federally mandated that all trucks have to be on elogs.

anyways. (best place i ever been and no hazmat required).

Most companies (not all) use owner operators because they are cheaper than using their own trucks,,it is all about them making money and they don't care if you do not,,Hard to find any carrier that cares about their owner operators, that is why you need a good contract, as an owner operator you need to learn about contracts,(basic business law)

BUT ANY CONTRACT IS ONLY AS GOOD AS THE LAWYERS CAN AFFORD TO GET JUSTICE.
It is like insurance,,every carrier must have insurance,,but is does not mean they got to pay with out a fight,,

While I think there are companies like this there are plenty of companies that treat O/O's right. But when someone accepts treatment like this then it will continue. As an O/O you have more option than many believe.

I found a company that treats me right all the time.....I have no issues, nothing they are out there but are like most state hard to find, problem is most take things for granted, or think that the grass may be better on the otherside, sometimes it is but most times its not.

I wouldn't trade where I am at for more money, would be nice, but again the being part of a family, and the respect, and security i have here makes up for the more money if I were to go somewhere else. (such as like landstar, greatwide....etc...etc....)

to each his/her own, but they are out there and some feel there is more important things than money and that theory is not only shown here but has been proven to me time and time again. especially from going to being flat broke, almost loosing everything, to money in the bank, and everything paid.

but how we each succeed or fail depends on how we plan, and how we set up our business and if we are actually treating what we do as a business vs a hobby, or just a job...

did i have 10k in the bank before becoming an o/o nope, closer to hitting that goal now where i am at vs from where I started.
