You always see the good in things and in people Don. I admire you greatly for it too. I really hope he does well myself. But when you ask those with experience in not only trucking , but things in general you shoul always be prepared to hear the " truth " from a few of them. Most folks I would think , bespecially those starting a completely new to them career would appreciate that. I know I would. Instead of having something sugar coated or just glossed over. I believe you would agree.

If you reread my OP you will see I did not ask for encouragement, I asked for questions and answers directly related to that job and interview, then finished with "and any advice", which all but one chose to interpret as "offer discouragement".

I kindly and sincerely thanked all who contributed to this thread, if you read back you will see it on post #17.

As for the rest, with exception to VTSharpshooter, not one reply was a direct answer to what I am asking, instead it was judgment based on a few words with ZERO knowledge of my injuries, complications, or what I did to beat the odds that were stacked against me, nor do know my level of fitness or abilities, medical release, or workers comp status. I have had 3.5 years to work on my health and fitness, as well as think all of this through with the knowledge I have gained through the resources available to me. IF I land this job, it may well be too much for me but, it may be just the thing I am seeking, that is for ME to determine.

I did not ask for judgment, though I understand that participating in a public forum that it is unavoidable and is often the predominant tendency of those who frequent such venues. I am not naïve, I am not stupid and I am keenly aware the level of risk I take and am willing to take in everything I do, or am about to do one task to the next. Had you every single bit of knowledge regarding my recent medical history, you still could not understand unless you experienced it for yourself.

Once again, thanks for your input. If you have anything to add that answers my OP, please do.

OK dude, I'm gonna give you some advice. LOSE THE FRIGGIN' ATTITUDE, at least when you go in to apply for a job.

Or not. I really don't care. You want to get your panties in a wad because you don't like what people are telling you, that is YOUR problem.

Let's look at this situation with a major dose of reality. What these other drivers are telling you IS that the particular job you are applying for IS or WOULD BE a stiff kick in the groin for a typical non-overweight 25 year old. It's hard physical labor, period. That will require you to bust butt most of the day to make all your stops. There are plenty of other driving jobs that don't require what this one does, and if you have previous injuries... it may be impossible for you to keep up with the 25 year old ex-hockey playing college dropouts also doing the job.

Lots of angry people here of late, must be getting stuck with crap freight. Some companies will allow mis drop for unaccasable job site. Some will say if nobodys there just get it off the truck. But some will say if tbe coustomer wants it in the attic bathroom through the finished white carpet bedroom and you have to remove your muddy boots on evey one of your 50 trips then do it! All depends. Donkey drops are "mostly" cake. That is if you can drive a truck, tight parking narrow accsess uneven terrain exc...exc.. the only thing that matters is what your boss conceders "reasonable" delivery conditions. If you get it come back with details for advice on how to make your job easier, safer, and sometimes funner. Till then round here this is the best your gonna get. Sorry.

You really can't blame these construction workers, it's really not their job to unload a semi, (but they need what you have to keep working) I've had a lot of trouble with construction workers, and sometimes there's a person with a shred of decency, and will help you, but usually not. I had to look up clairvoyant, and I'm not sure it's that. You are summoning opinions from people all over that have done that, so we aren't trying to dissuade you, just we've been there, and if you want to go ahead anyway, that's your choice. There are much easier jobs in trucking, maybe not in Alaska, that could be a problem.

For you and previous injuries you should be asking what the job duties are and figure out whether or not you can do them.

I want to thank you guys for opening my eyes some.

I applied at a lumber yard last week and knew it would be hard work and just thought I would not need to hit the gym with all the work I would be doing jumping all over that truck strapping down never gave much thought to handling of the load much.

If I get called in for an interview will see how it goes from there but I also don’t think they have a T/T so may keep looking then again I am hungry for a job.
