Roadrunner transportation from the start

    Does Roadrunner have good team freight? We'd be using their trailer until we could buy our own but shouldn't be to long.

    R & M Transportation Omaha Nebraska / Division of Roadrunner Transportation System. If you like hauling Cheap Freight R & M is the place for you. They are in bed with Tyson and Nebraska Furniture Mart. They say no forced dispatch? Think again! If you like waiting upwards to 32 hours to get a Tyson load R & M is for you. So I transferred to Roadrunner. It has been a blessing!! You run your own destiny. Total freedom!! You are your own Driver Manager! It’s very close to Land star. Roadrunner’s contract says 2 line hauls a month. After that and your business savvy and use certified roadrunner brokers. The income potential is all up to you.

    Been gone for awhile thought I would check in for anyone who gives a hoot. Had the best 3 months money wise of my trucking career, in the last quarter actually was able to put some money in the bank pay off my bills and enjoy life for a minute. Even took a vacation to Singapore and Thailand. Nice warm weather girls in bikini's oh yeah. Then I come back to this sub zero weather, supposed to have a new truck to buy ready to roll when I get back, not only is there no new truck, there is no truck to rent or be found. Should have saved my money and stayed home. Oh well something will turn up.

    So, I get online to look for a new direction (have been hauling 8 axle flatbeds), filled out an online app with RR, received an email from their recruiter from my area, called him a dozen times in the last two weeks...not once has he returned my call... Maybe it's just a sign that RR isn't the way to go... Grrr!

    Roadrunner is not the way to go. It has totally bankrupt me, in reality Roadrunner tells you 90% of gross. After Roadrunner agents and brokers get their cut your left with cheap freight. 70% not to include your deadhead miles. In my chase with there Arrow truck lease program. 5 years $10.000 buy out. Out of that 70% Weekly I have to pay $185 a week for a trailer, Trk Pymt $507.47, Plates $50.00, 2290 $10.58 total $752.17 not including any maintenance deductions. Monthly: NTL $39.00, Phys Dam $319.00, Cargo Ins $76.00, Limiter $ 33.00, OCCAC $160.00 total $627.00. Do the math and you'll come to find out why I am leaving Roadrunner transportation.

    Terminal to terminal freight has been tough to come by. 5 different terminals I have been told 'tonite we will load you' then come that night I'd go in asking about my load and they say they don't have enough freight to fill the trailer, maybe tomorrow night. 3 of the terminals that said this, I sat 3-4 days waiting for them to fill the trailer, the other 2 terminals were the next night like they said.

    This last load I did, they call my up at midnight or so and say load is ready. I go to get it, and they had left already, paperwork in the back of trailer backed up to dock. OK cool, EXCEPT the tandems were 37,888 pounds and going to Cali. Had to sit til morning for someone to come in to rework it. The good news is they had a return load preloaded and everyone wanted 4th of July off would I be interested? Sure, makes a 3600 mile week. They dispatched and loaded my fuel card before I even got there, didn't know which trailer it was so sat around til they opened up Monday midnight and see dispatch wants load 1800 miles away Tuesday morning.

    In between some of those loads I did do a couple of broker loads, one was a 700+ mile in 24 hours. Let's just say I got it there through 2 55 mile per hour states just 1:45 late.

    Supposed to be paid 92% of the rate the broker quotes the load. It must be like 92% of 75% or something because the end rate is so cheap. I sat at one terminal a couple days and requested to be released (have to be 'released' now to be able to book broker loads) from the terminal to book a broker load. Got a response basically, that's not my job but let me get someone else and no help after that. Broker did have a 500 some mile load for $2 bucks a mile but we couldn't book it because corporate didn't release me.

    I don't know how the lease guys are surviving with the big payments. Mine is paid off but if it wasn't for my gambling winnings I'd be eating noodles.
