Almost the end of the day. I drove the yard dog all day without incident up to then. I had a 22G1 on the chassis and had just got it popped off. The fork lift driver asked me to pull some stacked chassis out for him, so I was obliged to help.

I wanted to pull one more 22G1 setup before I knocked off for the day. Just that quick I forgot to take off the trailer glad hand. As I pulled forward I ripped the hose right off...:biggrin_25510:

The guys took it in stride...but I was really ticked at myself. The lessoned I learned was LET NOTHING DISTRACT YOU IN THE MIDDLE OF AN UNHOOK...FINISH IT FIRST...then deal with whatever.

I've done this once. The tractor I did it with still has the hole in the rear, plastic mud-flap (the short, plastic, curvy one over the rear tires).

It happens. Just be more mindful of your coupling and uncoupling procedures and do it the same way every time so it becomes natural to you.

You're not a machine. 10 minutes behind the wood shed and work goes on. Oh wait, that was the old days. I guess you'll have to explain to have a dozen supervisors but hopefully you'll get the ones that know what you're talking about. It's like everything else get into a routine and try not to deviate.

Yep, routine is the ticket. Same way every time with a few exceptions here and there

We had a yard dog driver forget . The glad hand , when it popped off , the line whipped it through the back door glass and out the windshield. You are lucky the hose failed. They make great slingshots. Our driver was lucky it missed his head.

From all my reading about this I figure there's two kinds of drivers, those that have forgotten to unhook the glad hands and those who will.
