Viking84, thanks for your post. This makes me feel better. I studied many companies and decided on Roehl, because I want to be the absolute best I can be with my driving skills and safety. I am female and the trainer issues bother me a bit. But, there is always good, bad and ugly in anything. All in the attitude.

Scott72, I too am leaving law enforcement (7 years, medium sized Department, inner city) to work for Roehl (starts school in Appleton January 5, 2015) and honestly I don't know whether to be terrified, excited, or what. With everything going on nowadays I've had enough. Is it really worth it?

Can only speak from my own experience, but I'm so much happier out here. My stress level went from a 9 to a 2. At first you'll question whether you made the right decision, but stick with it, and chances are you'll probably be glad you did.

I retired in July after a little more than 21 years in law enforcement. There were many times I wanted to quit but I hung on, sometimes by my fingernails, to earn my pension. I feel so much better that I am out of that and am looking forward to trucking as a second career. Glad to hear about success stories of former LEO's in trucking and that you Scott72 are actually happier. I hope it does the same for me.

    Scott72 Thanks this.

Less stress is exactly what I'm looking for. The money potential is better too from what I have seen (compared to NC LEOs anyway). I just want to provide a better life for me and mine and not have to worry about someone knocking on the door at 1am telling my wife I was killed by some crackhead over some bull***. All for 30k a year. Not to mention the office back stabbers you mentioned. Thanks for the reply and the insight.

    Scott72 Thanks this.

How many miles could I realistically expect in the Flatbed National Division? I'm looking at going to Gary, IN for orientation and training after the first of the year sometime.

I'd say see you then but I'm going to be in Marshfield starting the same date.

I am contemplating training for a cdl with Roehl in Green Bay and getting my CDL while in TN. I retire from the military and want to move family to NC by June 1st and wanted to know what Roehls business is like in the Fayetteville NC area? Which drop yards do they work out of?
