Do you really care if the Subway sandwich artist is wearing gloves or not?

My theory is if fecal material doesn't wash off with soap and water, it most likely won't fall into my food when they make it.

Hi *Five-O*, oh I hear you. I wouldn't eat there either. Matter of fact, I would gone one step further, and report that person to the company. Subway is huge, and they don't have any tolerance for someone that doesn't abide by the rules, I don't care if it's Jennifer Lopez. My ex-father-in-law spent a lot of time on the road, and he had a system. He would go directly to the bathroom of a restaurant, if the bathroom was filthy, he would walk right out. No gloves, that's disgusting.:smt078

I'm more worried about that old grumpy fat trucker I hear farting and grunting and unloading a liquid dump behind the bathroom stall then getting up and walking out without washing his hands, and grabbing the door handle with his fecal covered hand then seeing him at the buffet loading up the plate with same hands.

I NEVER touch the door handle of a public restroom, just for that reason. I'll use a piece of paper, unless the towel holder is empty, or use my coat or shirt sleeve. Matter of fact, most busy public places (airports, malls, but sadly not truck stops) are doing away with the doors altogether, and those automatic faucets, great idea, and it's possible not to touch anything in a public restroom now.

I don't worry about it, it helps build up the immune system.

Gloves only make the public feel better about the food, does NOTHING for the actual growth of bacteria on the food. It also causes food service employees to NOT wash their hands properly, because the glove will protect you...

And everytime that person with gloves on touches meat then vegetables, they are spreading bacteria... then they take the gloves off, touching the outside of the glove, contaminating their hand, touch money, the counter,... then the reach in the box, contaminating the gloves, and pull on a new pair....

If a restaurant is clean I don't worry about it. I agree about building up the immune system. We have been programmed to think that we need to sterilize everything. We used to eat mud pies when we were little. There is no telling what was in that mud. I am still here as are my siblings and we are all in pretty good health. Some of the younger people who have used all the sanitizers and are so germaphobic are not so healthy. Don't get me wrong. I still wash my hands thoroughly, but don't worry too much about the restaurant employees. I would worry more about the trucker who uses the toilet and heads straight to the food buffet without washing his hands. A few germs won't kills you.

That is a BIG stretch calling them an artist!

I want them to wear the gloves when making my sandwich. Making a sandwich then collecting the money and back to making the next sandwich. With all the slobs out there, who knows what is transferred from the handling of money to the sandwiches.
