I have a friend who wants to give me his 2006 volvo vnl670. It has 800k miles on it, but still runs good. He is going to let me make his deliveries that will vary from 400 to 800 miles from Alabama towards Dallas, Houston, some in virginia, tennessee, mississipi. He will not keep me busy all the time. He will pay about $2.50/mile. His runs will be 1 way.
The question is, can I find enough loads of of load boards to come back towards Alabama? Also what would the average cpm be on those lanes?

You won't have any problem finding loads back. What you will find is that "about $2.50" outbound is no where near enough of what you really need.
chalupa Thanks this. -

$2.50 a mile without a truck payment is completely do-able.
Everybody on here acts like they don't haul anything under $3.00 a mile. Stop lying to us....and more importantly, stop lying to yourselves. It gets old.cmbks21 and skyviper73 Thank this. -
To the OP who provides the trailer and what type of freight are you hauling outbound
stop lying to yourselves. It gets old. You need to go find the poster who clears $160,000.00 per year and that is every year after all expenses and taxes are paid -
forgot to mention that I will be getting 4 box trailers to go with it. And also I will team with the wife..

Ps thank god he got banned -

If you people would stop hauling for cheap just to get somewhere else we would pull $3 plus all the time

That won't ever happen. And really I don't care what other people haul for. But on my lanes I know #### well what i'm talking about so don't appreciate being called a liar. Alabama is on my lanes and if you go out and back from there you better get your money going out. The fact that there are dummies who come to AL and TN and can't get a rate is never going to change. If you live here you have a leg up. When the cheap dummies are loaded up and gone that is when you get your rate and make a profit. How it works everywhere except for typical back haul markets like florida. Been doing it that way for a long time. I've helped a handful of TTR guys both in my own company and outside of it who know I am the real deal.
Ruthless, skyviper73 and Cetane+ Thank this.
