A few more gray hairs....a load more stress... and a now nearly empty bank account..
And I take delivery of a Brand New 2015 Volvo 780 tomorrow morning.
Gah... monster down payment, and huge monthly payment... I dont really want to admit this, but im going to be paying $3800 a month... yeah..that isnt a typo... I figure that over the last 5 months, my old truck has cost me a $1850 a month payment, PLUS an average of $5500 a month in repairs. So $3800, is LESS than I was shelling out.. As long as i keep telling myself that, I wont cry....

::sigh:: im going to be second guessing myself for the next 3 years, but the numbers say Im 99% likely to do better with this truck than my old one... We shall have to see...
Now to go toss and turn all night until I wake up and go get my new truck...

Good luck buddy, I've been following this thread since I left Watkins to see how it's turning out for you. I just recently got into my own truck too. I went a little different route, I ended up getting my own authority and am now pulling cows and flatbed.
I bought a 2006 international 9900i with a c-15 cat and 13 speed. The engine was just rebuilt by cat before I got it so Ive got a 4 year unlimited mileage warranty on it. The truck itself just passed the one million mile mark.
Been awhile since I've seen you so I figured I would say hi, hope this new ride turns out to be a good one for you, at least the warranty will help a lot if you do have repairs

Thanks Milktanker. Congrats on your new truck.
I just brought my truck home so I can get the registration and licensing done. So far I LOVE this thing. Smooth, quiet, no odd squeaks and rattles... Even though it has 50 less Hp, it seams MUCH more powerful than my last truck. And the XE-13 fuel package... wow... 400 LESS RMP at cruise than Im used to... I saw a STEADY 18.5 mpg bobtail on the way home. Will have to see what towing a trailer is like. Monday I start the DMV process for registration, then head to Modesto to get permits and such, then SFS to get marking and peoplenet put in. From there.....it will be time to go to work to pay for the new truck smell...

    update...
Stuck at home due to title issues. Seams there is a hang up between California DMV, and the company I have the lease through about paperwork... ::Sigh:: eh, Given that im sick as heck, and pretty much stuck in bed, I guess its not a bad thing.

oh for....... ::Sigh:: I gave up on California yesterday. I got told they had made a mistake, and that I had to start over from scratch, and that it was going to take several more weeks...
Called watkins, and guess what? overnight, THEY magically got me a registration in Montana... So... im legal to run!!!!!!!
    Finally.
Ok, packing up my things now, saying goodbye to kids and wife, then going to bobtail to LA for the peoplenet installation, and to get markings on the truck.

    jomar68 Thanks this.

Sorry for not updating here more, but I have been going through hell the last month n a half. Not with my truck, which is running sweetly, but with my personal life. Not going into details, but I have become yet another statistic, in that my wife n I are now officially separated.
::sigh:: There is still hope for us, but...... its fading, and im locked into this truck for at least another 2.5 years.
This job I used to love, has now become a prison that I hate with a passion.

    Wheels keep turning,
    Diesel fuel burning.
Engine bellows through the exhaust stacks,
Giving small cars frequent heart attacks.
At 80,000lbs you feel the road is yours to command,
Hauling anything from shirts to cat sand.
Almost drunk with the thundering power,
Even coming home and being the man of the hour.
Truth is you miss the shower..
Your craves some of the simplest things of home,
Like watching your wife use her brush and comb.
God how your poor heart breaks,
Because of the sacrifices your job takes,
To try and make sure your kids can enjoy their steaks.
You tell everyone about how the job cant be beat,
When inside you want to run from it with hasty feet.
Everyone knows how you think its the best,
But each night your heart is breaking in your chest.
Trucker when your home spread your love with with wild abandon,
For tomorrow you will be sliding your tandom.
Trucker on the road remember one thing,
    The feel of being home,
    Where your heart can sing.

Remember that truckers, because some of us just lost everything we were working so hard for.

    Milktanker and thejdogg Thank this.

Hey man, sorry to hear about that. Being on road and dealing with all this is a tough thing to do. I'll keep you in my thoughts and hope everything works out in the end SW. Keep us updated. Don't let all this cloud your head or judgement while on the road, try to focus on the job at hand.

Sorry to hear. This job has cost me multiple relationships unfortunately. I hope things work out for you there.
