OK I decided to get my own truck after making other Owners money..I have flown to New Boston and looking at a 2011 Volvo 780 with 483599 miles. They call it a RPO truck (I think) which means I am paying to own it which I'll be done in 15 months. I get the no payment for the first 21 days. I can't find out if there is still a factory warranty or not but Swift will give that first 30 day warranty. Right now, a new clutch is being installed as I write this. I was wondering 1. After the first 30 days if the truck needed to be in the shop for extended periods of time do I get the option to borrow a loaner truck to continue working and 2. Why is it against Swift policy to show repair history? I would appreciate any help to steer me in the right direction. Please keep the anti-lease sermons to yourself if that's all you have to offer.

If you're buying this through swift and it was a swift fleet truck & they're refusing to show you the maintenance history...that's a major red flag....it shows that they could possibly trying to hide a serious previous issue with the truck..my advice is becareful...also you can run the Vin # on rigdig.com...it will pull all the dot inspection history and violations with that truck as well as any dot reportable accident .

Fist you need to get your title clear, sorry but your operation is not an "owner op." It is a lease operator.

If you are going to be responsible for a truck, you need to be responsible for keeping yourself rolling. Get on with Schneider Choice or Landstar. If a dispatcher is controlling your income, you will just feel like a company driver with more stress and responsibilities.

Why is it against swift policy to see what repairs that have been done? Because must would probably walk away, 1st year drivers have a higher percentage for accidents, if you can't see the record, you should walk away

It seems to me that in order to own a 2011 780 with those miles in 15 months, your payments will have to be in the $3,000 to $4,000 per month range. If they're promising you it will be paid off in 15 months, unless you're putting a huge down payment on it, you need to be very wary.
Check the listings for a similar tractor, and you'll see what I mean. If you are putting a huge down payment on the truck, then you may want to check around. Not getting the maintenance info on the truck is a really big red fleg.

I decided to walk away because I just didn't feel comfortable signing for something and couldn't see maintenance history. I understand there is no Carfax for big trucks...but there should be.
