I don't really want something new that I need to make a payment on. How many years would you have to pay 1400 a month for?
-
1400 a month for 4 years
but knowing me I can pay extra and realisticly thinking 3 years
this truck payment would be my biggest bill
no car payment
no mortgage
So what's ya honest opinion -
Trust me I DONOT want. High payment but I don't want an old truck where I gotta worry about breakdown/maintenance
my big concern is having a warranty that cover major components -
depending on the part of the country you're running intermodal, it can be a fickle beast. Parts of the Midwest, come March, April, May, June, it can get very slow, you might only make $2,000/week to the truck, you might sit two days a week if the company has a lot of drivers.
MrIncredible and TDevine729 Thank this. -
Thinking of Houston Tx
the plan was to get a used truck from freight liner & sign on with Schneider for now -
I have a 2002 Freightliner Columbia hauling from the Ports/Rails.

I have a 395 hp Volvo day cab! its perfect for the rail to me. awesome turning radius and easy to drive. had a international 9400 sleeper before and it was a pain in the #####!
TDevine729 Thanks this. -
Hey hey man I just recently decided y buy a sleeper when I'm home every night
saw a 2007 Columbia day cab 30k
thinking of getting that -
I have been hauling containers for 7 plus years. I own a 2000 classic xl. 12.7 Detroit turned up to 550hp. 270 wheel base. And I have not had any trouble with getting in and out of the rail or ports. I am home every night but just a word of advice if you're going to buy a truck buy one you can do more than just containers.
icsheeple, jaylynn63, TDevine729 and 1 other person Thank this.
