One more thing, look on the inside of the frame so you don't drill through an air line or wires. (I did that once):biggrin_25523: and yeah, that's some hard metal!
Funny you mention that, about a year ago I changed the seats, put a big visor on and needed to put the seats down on the floor, well the new setup required 2 new holes (one on each seat) to mount them and I spent a good 1 hour so trying to measure the floor to door area inside and then again underneath to ensure I didn't hit something when drilling down through..

I think I held my breath for about 3 min on each side hoping that I'd double checked everything enough and wasn't about to hit a harness/airline or some other important item underneath.

Just wanted to give a quick update and again say thanks to everyone for the good advice.

This is what I ended up doing, changed the wiring back to the center lights (those where just being used as running lights) and picked up these cheap hangers. I've just got a bent over nail in there until I can get to the hardware store and picked up a nice Pin.

Thanks again for all the good suggestions and I seemed to have no issues this week with them, never even took them off and pulled the 20's, 40's and 53' chassis's without any issues.. =)

They do the job and a lot of people always comment about CONTAINER trucks not being dressed up with the chromed mud flap holders and lights but as you see there is a good reason why

I had to drill new holes through the frame on my truck and it went a lot easier than I expected. I got a good quality bit, used a slower speed than I normally would, used cutting oil and it was no problem. Didn't even dull my bit.

Was a piece of cake when I did it. Forgot all about this posting and was just killing some time this morning. Figured this thread would be dead by now. =) Slow speed, good oil, excellent bits.. no problem.. On a side note, I've still not taken them off and have not had one ounce of problems since changing them over. Just miss seeing the nice chrome light bar flaps I use to have on it.

Trucking is a small enough world as it is. I run for a larger company that has a small office in my local. I'd prefer not to advertise for them. My truck is also very unique in looks and I could easily be identified, something that at this time, I'd really not like to do. Tons of info on this board though regarding good companies. If you decided to run intermodal, or if you all ready are, finding the good places becomes simpler once you are in.. Just talk to the drivers. =)
Hi lunchman, btw, keep the light bar so it can go back on when (not if) you get tired of intermodal.:yes2557:
Sadly, I tore one of them all up the first time I pulled a 53' chassis.. I ran into a guy a few weeks later that did the same thing and ended up selling the good one to him. Looking around, all I could find was them sold in pairs.. So, when the day comes, Ill just have to buy 2 new ones.. :(
