Glad to hear that SNI is working out for you and that you are enjoying time with the family. I am looking at Schneider and it's great to read positive things about it. I'm out of Chicago so there is lots of openings here for Intermodal.

Couple of questions for ya.... How would you compare your salary now vs when you were OTR? I know you cant put a price tag on home time, that's priceless... Its awesome hearing that you have income stability.

and is Schneider's intermodal division pretty stable? You hear anything about their bulk division? I was looking at applying to OTR Bulk. I know that both are newer divisions for them and want to make sure that the jobs are there to stay in the long run (hopefully). i have read mixed reviews about the bulk division in Gary, IN where I would be placed to start. The recruiter said that after 6 months I can apply to regional and local intermodal so I am closer to home.

Thanks for your posts. They are informative and its nice to read something positive on here once in awhile! LOL

Yeah I ran local intermodal(Im an owner op, and was then also) in charlotte and gboro back then. They were doing a lot of changes. Used to be dispatched by 2 ladies in charlotte and then they moved the dispatch to ATL and it became horrible. They didn't know what they were doing…… it was good while it was in charlotte. Only reasoned I stayed leased to SNI was because I ran local….

I don't think you can go wrong with Intermodal, the one thing about Chicago is that the have guys starting at all hours of the day, so you might not get the hours you want starting out.

    evanstonmark Thanks this.

I don't see many Schneider containers in the new rail yard (Norfolk Southern) where I drive out of. I'm new to intermodel, is there another railyard you work out of?

You get to pick your start time. Either 5am or 5pm. They like night drivers.

We mainly run out of the CSX yard. Only go to NS for export and import loads.
