Most everyone i knew there has left...this includes safety and support personnel..
to someone who never knew the real gordon trucking it may be a good fit but to those like myself who enjoyed working for a great company we could not sit by and watch it be dismantled..
my reasons for leaving was the lack of miles...what does it matter if you make .46 cpm if you only run 7k miles per month which is what i did the last 2 months there.. and that was actually working 31 straight days each..
good luck if you go with them but i would advise a back up plan...preferably not a mega carrier -
I would suggest you read Captain Zooms thread "Im Baaaack" in the good trucking companies forum. He is with Gordon now out of Indy...that is if he hasnt already left for Risinger Brothers....
okietrucker2000 Thanks this. -
I just read his entire thread. I wonder how an experienced guy with a positive attitude finds the dark side so quickly. Could be partly his mindset, his own karma, and it could be part of what's happened to GTI in the past year or so.
It certainly gives me grist for the mill of my mind. -
Just read Zoom's thread. A lot of food for thought there, but I also know every ones experience can differ when starting with a new company. Still kind of up in the air about who to go with. Cant msg tow614 yet about SEC not enough posts.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
I always try to have a back up plan. Turned down all other offers accept Gordon and SEC. I have a clean dac and no points and enough verifiable experience I can get on about anywhere I choose. I have just had some very bad experiences with small outfits.

run by Heartland I would avoid them like the plague. I am taking some time off from SEC to deal with a few minor health issues and
enjoy my life a little bit. I plan on returning to drive for SEC soon, I would recommend them anytime. They treated me very well when
I was working for them. The insurance was lousy which I understand they have improved and the pay could be better but they are about
the nicest people I ever drove for and that's a big plus with me. The equipment is late model and well maintained and they don't run the
Northeast or east coast. I am not a recruiter, I am just giving you my honest opinion of SEC...
IF EVERYTHING IS GOING WELL YOU HAVE OBVIOUSLY OVERLOOKED SOMETHING -
I also took a whole month off last year when I was driving for SEC to go deal with some issues surrounding my fathers death in 2013 and they did not even ask me
to clean out my truck. They told me to take as much time off as I needed. How many trucking companies out there have you heard of that would do that?
HARD WORK PAYS OFF IN THE FUTURE, LAZINESS PAYS OFF NOW -
Random thought as I prepare to visit the orthopedic doc today
The main question I pondered for two weeks at GTI was this:
Which is worse, having a truck with an inoperative APU or a truck without an APU at all?
The unit installed on my truck did not function as designed and often did not operate at all. When the buggah works, life is wonderful. I stay comfortable, have power to all my toys, the batteries stay charged, and I don't have to idle, which I hate to do - for me, it's an environmental thing.
When the buggah isn't working or isn't installed, I have to idle...if the temperature is cold/hot enough; the comfort of this creature is not assured.
I prefer having an APU. I like having a functioning unit even more. -
