Only one I know of is that Euro Simulator game, not sure if there is an American equivalent. Not sure how much of a sim it is either. I know a lot of the flight simulators are pretty authentic, can't speak on the trucking sims though. If anything it may be a fun way to kill time.

Schneider uses them for training.

I'm real good with a hovercraft, but terrible with any truck related game..... Sigh... I dunno

Wait a sec... I don't think he's talking the professional simulators. Rather, it may be the "run down to Walmart" kind.
In either case, no. I personally don't think they do any good. In fact, and this is more true of the consumer games (versus professional sims), they do more harm than good.
For one, games can't teach you to "feel" the truck, road and conditions. Some may call me nuts, but you do get to a point where you can communicate with the truck. Even if you take the game seriously, there's still other things you can't do in a game that need to be done and learned.
In summary: Are there some good truck driving sims out there? Yeah! Are they meant to be a tool to learn? I believe the companies have a disclaimer stating that's not its purpose. Can you learn good truck driving skills from one? No. There's too much a game can't cover and there's too much of a difference between real life and a game.
Im a young person and I still love a good game, but even after my short stent in this industry... Even Schneider's simulators I would debate the effectiveness. It's better than sending completely clueless drivers out, but not by much. -
Grand theft auto v
The physics are actually pretty good.
You can notice the difference backing a long nose pete and a cabover for sure.
I taught a new guy in Joplin how to set up properly & back in Lester's dock.
Made him turn the stick like it was a steering wheel.
He got pretty good. Helped his confidence out big time for going out with his trainer.
It being in 3rd person helps you out.
Turning is a tad unrealistic but you can get the idea.
I spent quite a few hours just driving trucks around on GTA online ....after driving a truck my full hours . mental issues right...? -
Damnitall!!Beat me to it!!Grand Theft Auto is all the video simulator
