That is waxin coating on the first 8' of wood. It's basically a wax that is impregnated into the floor. You ever see trailers dropped at a customer on their yard with the doors open? It's to protect it from moisture and eventual rot. You can have the entire length of the trailer's floor waxin'd for extra $$$$. If i was spec'ing one i'd have it done the full length.

I did one vented van load this past fall (another shout out to TQL on that particular load, lol). I did 5 nursery loads that required the insulated roof one of which required the vents. Now every one of these were $5 a mile runs on taller miles than I normally run. Really I think I can live without vents and insulation. The nursery I was hauling cart loads out of closed and i'M just not up to tailgating floor loads anymore. I probably won't vent or insulate it. The few I did were lucrative and I was happy to get them but there's just not enough of that work at the rates I want.

Congrats. It's always nice to have a new tool. You're right about Great Dane. I did a 4 year stint in the shop at a GD dealer, with a full trailer body shop. We rebuilt them, sometimes from the floor up.
    Really well built.

nah just kidding about that stuff. Keeping it stock is the best idea anyway for resale value. Lights and shiny wheels don't pay for anything.

I like regular ole' stem caps personally. The quick check caps can get stuck open with dirt contamination and let the air out. I've had that happen on at least one occasion.

Lettered it up today. In the pics it doesn't look highly visible but in person it is much more visible. Simple and clean. Font was as close of a match to the font on my tractor as we could get.

This would have looked cleaner centered on the nose of the trailer but I offset it to the side because it's convienient for security at guardshacks to see my company name and trailer number at a glance. Had the "112" offset like that on my old trailer and they would always look at it without asking "what's your trailer number?". Somehow they would miss the company name on the tractor though....

In case there was any doubt....

    Stencils on the inside tomorrow...
